You know you've lost weight when.....
I haven't had my surgery- in fact I haven't even had my orientation, but I was reading a thread like this on another forum and it was so helpful.... so all of you WLS veterans - please share your NSVs! I get nervous about the complications and so on, so it's very encouraging to read about all of you that have been so successful.

I have a funny NSV to share.
I wore a lot of dresses and skirts while I was in the losing phase. I waited until the last possible moment to buy anything in a smaller size...including undies. One day I was walking through the mall and my way too big undies fell to my ankles! I looked around to see if anyone was looking and nonchalantly bent over to retrieve them. I stuffed them in my purse and headed for the nearest lingerie department to buy undies that fit.
Moral of the story: Going "commando" should always be a choice and not an accident. Buy the undies and save the embarrassment.
Let's face facts. You've always been quick to drop your knickers.

Two former colleagues that I hadn't seen for ages -- and whom I was meeting for dinner one evening -- walked right past me in the restaurant foyer without a glimmer of recognition.
I got on an airplane for the first time in about five years, put on the seatbelt, and pulled -- and had about 8 inches of belt to the left of the buckle.
I put on a pair of my mother's jeans (they were brand-new and we were sorting out her things to be given away after her death) just for fun -- and those damned size 14s fit, were a little loose actually -- for the first time since I was in my mid-thirties. At the time I was 56.
I'm looking through the racks in a clothing store and getting funny looks because I'm in the wrong section -- the plus size section.
I declared that I "loved red" -- after insisting for years upon years that I hated it. I bought a red dress with a duster jacket that made me feel like a million dollars.
There was a point when I was dropping weight quickly and my clothes were all getting really big and for some reason I was not willing to buy new clothes. I guess you get used to tent like clothes...who knows. I work in an office and I am embarrassed to admit this now but there was a time I was using binder clips to hold my pants up. My coworkers found out because I had to constantly readjust them....and they got together for my birthday and got me a $100 JC Penney gift card. The card said something like...it's time to get out of the fat clothes and wear something nice...you earned it!!!
That first little shopping spree was the best feeling. Not only did I not realize it but I went down quite a few sizes but wearing clothes that fit make you look and feel so much better. After that I never wore ill fitting clothes again.
