You're welcome! There are several sites- so I would post the review on several (even if he's not specially listed, find the practice to review and list him specifically). He was so out of line!!! And I would also write or speak with the practice manager.  I personally research every provider I see or plan to see and if there are bad reviews, I'll find someone else because there are typically options! Sorry you experienced that!

I think you write a letter to the head of the practice and describe his poor bedside manner.

Further, his specialty ISNT bariatric medicine. It is putting people to sleep and minimizing pain. He is not qualified to comment on bariatric procedures unless he has a specialty we dont know about (I would mention it in the letter too).

In sum, he is not professional. His nervousness over sticking people also shows he lacks confidence which is suggestive of a lack of skill. When I worked in hospital there were nurses that could get blood out of turnips. They were that good and THAT confident. They knew what to do, they did it with poise, professionalism and confidence.

It is unfortunate that an MD with 6+ years in medical school and specializations is not as skilled or professional as a nurse with a 2-4 year degree (perhaps you should allude to this in your letter as well).

I would wonder about that doctor.

Just saying.

Well, isn't that guy just a little ray of sunshine?

What kind of idiot -- whether he has an alleged medical degree or not -- asks personal questions like that of someone he just met? The questions were apropos of absolutely nothing he was doing, other than being nosy.

I think, as others have pointed out, it's just ignorance about bariatric surgery.  It ain't lipo -- as Gary V. pointed out -- and it ain't fun, and it ain't easy even 16 years after the fact, and I swear the next person who tells me I took "the easy way out" will get a punch right in the throat.

I'm with some of the other posters -- I'd report this asshat to whatever professional board or college or whatever in your province or state licenses these people.  I know that many specialists have the bedside manner of a dog turd (if you really want to experience it in all its glory, have a consultation with a neurosurgeon), but this was intrusive, rude, and so far past unprofessional I don't even have a word for it.

I'd also get a new gynecologist, if that's the best she can do for her patients when it comes to an anethesiologist.

Congrats on standing up for yourself -- I bet that was a little bit of a new thing as well for you!

You know what F$@& that guy.  Totally unprofessional down to not being able to correctly start an IV, sounds like a low self esteem bully IMO.  If you have to see him again be sure to have a few choice words to give him back if he behaves poorly again.  Also ask to not be in the room alone with him, some people will refrain from saying stupid things is a co-worker is in the room.

As I got older and skinny... I develop an ability to speak my mind and tell people, even docs when they are not being professional. Like that guy.

However , in a situation like that when your well being and even life is in a hand of that jerk... I probably would zip it too... People like that can't be trusted.

Sorry you dealt with that stuff... There are good docs ..and not so much. Plus - sometimes docs get the "God syndrom" or are simply so smart in one area that are completely lacking in others - Dr house comes to mind.

I still rather deal with "Dr House-like, with really horrible bedside manners" than "a nice guy who is an educated moron.."

Maybe they keep him regardless of his manners, because he is so good at what he does?

I'm 66 years old and my RNY was 7 years ago.  I've learned (over years of practice) to be responsible for ONLY me.

My mantra is "I'm not going to let this ruin my day!"

I've been able to deal with rude, obnoxious, bullies, arrogant, stupid, sexist,  - fill in the blank______ kind of people.  I can't control them.  They may influence me, but I choose to let their words/behavior be their responsibility - not mine. And then I say or think "I'm not going to let this ruin my day."  It works for me and I can stay calm and peaceful.

Just a thought.  Best wishes,

Penny
