One piece of advice: Chew, Chew, chew!!

Had surgery in August 2014. Although I was ALWAYS told to chew very thoroughly, this is now just getting through to my thick head! If you chew everything very thoroughly not only will it stave off the hunger but you will also actually eat less and fell better. Here it is 1 year and a 1/2 after surgery and NOW I am just learning how to chew my food slowly and thoroughly!? Duh! SO my advice to new ones-which I know we are told right after surgery-chew, chew, chew, chew & chew some more! It's a new thing for us but something that is beneficial and will help with our weight loss!

Plus all the taste buds are in the mouth area so if we want to get the most pleasure out of our food - keep it in the mouth as long as possible and concentrate on all the flavours

I completely agree! I find that it also encourages me to make better food choices because I find that I don't like the way a lot of processed foods feel and taste when I chew them so much.

As a person with a Band I had to learn that lesson really quick or throw up my food.  It is hard when you spent your whole life shoveling it in.  But after 7 years I am now happy to report I am always the last person done with my meal...LOL!!!!

This is my weakness! I still tend to scarf stuff down (though not nearly as fast as before). Thanks for the reminder.
