In my last post I had talked about my dr putting me on 1500 calorie diet & in 30 days I lost 4lbs. He was all happy & I tried telling him it was all water, so I continue on with 1500 cal diet, went back 2wks after the 4lb loss & I gained 6lb in 2wks. So we go thru my chart, he has my height wrong which now changes my bmi & hes going to submit it for lap band finally after me fighting with him for 4yrs. If anyone has ever went from gastric bypass to band please let me know how its been

You may want to post this on the Revision forum.

Please do a lot more research before going through with this. The complication rate of the lap band is so high that some surgeons have stopped performing it altogether.

If you post this on the LapBand board and the Revision Board you may get a response from the few people who post here occasionally and have had a BOB procedure done.  Just to clarify you have had RNY and are looking to add a LapBand onto your pouch?

Not knowing anything about your history I can only caution you that living with a LapBand is very different from living with the RNY.  I actually didn't even think that Doctors were placing Band's anymore due to the high (over time) complication rates.  I lived with my Band for 8 years, but eventually all the things that can go wrong did.  I am not an exception, I am the norm.

If you want to know more about what it is like living with it inside your body, dealing with the restriction and other things, please do ask.  I won't tell you not to do it - your life, your choice.  But I and many others here who have BTDT can help you to have a more complete picture of what you would be getting yourself into if you chose that path.

Although it is ultimately your choice I would strongly recommend against getting the band over bypass.  I had the lap band for 11 years and the damage that ended up being done is just not worth having a band.  I still get pain in my left shoulder from vagus nerve damage due to the band.

I would have your pouch looked at and if there is nothing wrong with it I would go back to dense proteins along with tracking and measuring everything.  Honestly at 1500cal a day you are eating to much to lose weight.  Most people eat that much when they are in maintenance.

I think that the studies show post WLS people in maintenance have daily intake 1000-1200.  1500 is regain range for many WLS people.

^^^ exactly^^^

I maintain on anything over 851 calories -- and gain on anything over 1200.  1500 calories per day would be a recipe for disaster.

As everyone has mentioned, check out the Lap Band and Revision forums.  You may want to reconsider getting a lap band.

My surgeon doesn't perform lap band surgery any more because the complications are so prevalent down the road.
