I haven't even been home from hosp. 24 hrs and he's done everything possible for me.  From making sure I'm drinking and walking to cleaning up my messy butt.  I couldn't have  asked for better!  I still feel very weak and sore, and cranky.  If I move wrong I feel like I've been stung by a huge bee in the incision spots.  My blood sugars are still high - like 265, but they have me on 1/2 my usual lantus.  hope that gets better sson, but I'm afraid it won't.

Good for him.

The only time I ever had insulin was in the hospital after surgery. Something about it makes your blood sugar skyrocket. It will come down soon.

illness and stress makes your blood sugar go up, your body is experiencing both right now! once you recover it will probably come down. i'm not even diabetic and I had a higher blood sugar in the hospital right after surgery...totally normal!

That is great he is helping you. You will feel better soon. It takes a bit. Enjoy having him help you. Let him also.

good hubby! my bf was the same way. he would stay in the bathroom while I showered he would help me in and out of the bed. he took me to my moms so I wasn't alone during the day. he did laundry and dishes  cleaned the house and had flowers for me(although they were in a beer pitcher not a vase, it was still thoughtful and cute) when I got home.

It's great that he's so caring. My wife was the same way. We're so lucky aren't we. Your blood sugar will come down, mine were 340. They made me stay an extra day.

6 months down the road now, no more diabetes at all. I'm still diabetic because I can never go back to sugar. But my A1c is 4.9 now. I believe just drinking water for the last 6 months and no sugar of any kind has allowed this. I never thought this was possible either. One more miracle of eating good.

Let's just praise the powers that be for having AMAZING spouses! Have a better day Betsy. Walk, sip, walk, sip.

You know a man really loves you if he is willing to wipe your ass.

Many years ago I fell of a ladder and shattered my right wrist, and I'm VERY right handed.  I fell on the ladder and was so bruised that I could hardly move.  My husband helped me shower, wiped my butt, cooked, cleaned, and took care of my daughter.  I don't know whaat I would have done without him.

Things will get better. Hang in there!
