Breast Lumps
I was going to address this topic only to the ladies but then it dawned on me that men also have breasts. If anyone is offended by this topic/post then please stop reading now. Here it goes...
Yeserday I had my yearly female exam and, as is always the case, my gyno proceeded with the breast check. She found 2 nodules in my right breast and ordered a diagostic mammogram, along with an ultrasound. My tests are tomorrow.
I'm not going to pretend, I'm totally freaked out by this news! While researching a few minutes ago, I googled, "breast lumps with weight loss." To my amazement I found information!
It seams that after weight loss from bariatric surgery, it's not uncommon for breast lumps to appear in the deflated breasts. The posts I read indicated that the masses are normal but should not be discounted as a possibility of being breast cancer now or developing later. In other words, get the lumps checked out!
This information has been somewhat of a relief for me to read. However, I'm not going to try kid anyone, I'm still freaked out and frightened of what I might find out tomorrow. Please say prayers that everything turns out well.
Has anybody here encountered breast lumps after losing a significant amount of weight?

Okay, my experience is from when I was super morbidly obese, so is a litte different, but I'll share anyway since that's what I do.
When I was 37 I found a lump under my arm, almost in my armpit. I was panicky and called my doc. He said it was likely a lymph node, and probably no big deal, but sent me for a diagnostic mammogram anyway. The mammogram showed I had cysts, and I had to wait to get an order for an ultrasound. I was freaking out the whole time. All my cysts turned out to be benign fluid filed cysts.
Now I'm 42 and my doc still sends me for yearly mammograms, just to be safe. I did in vitro fertilization 3 years ago with high doses of hormones, and now I'm worried about breast cancer. My aunt, who did at least 10 rounds of in vitro to have her kids, had breast cancer a few years ago. So I go and get my boobies squished every year to be safe.
One good bit of news, the mammogram is so much easier now that my boobies are deflated.
My diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound today did not go well at all. This Friday morning I will be having a core needle biopsy on each mass. In addition, the doc found some lymph nodes in my underarm that she said she wasn't happy with at all.
The nerves and stress I had before my RNY was a walk in the park, compared to the stress and nerves I have about this wrinkle.

I had a scare last fall but the ultrasound found 7 cysts that were normal/benign. I did not need any further testing at this time.
Hang in there and keep us posted.

UPDATE 2/26/16
The core needle biopsy was not pleasant to go through but at least it's done. The doctor put a rush on the report, so I will definitely have the results on Monday. The doc said no matter what the results, I will have to see a breast surgeon as the masses have to come out.
Honestly, I can accept the masses, even if it's cancer. What I am having a hard time with is that the lymph nodes are involved. That's never a good thing.67 yrs old, 4'10", BMI 31.8 (51.8 at start), HW 256.4 (8/4/15), SW 217.4, CW 152.8 (4/30/18), GW 125.0, RNY 12/4/15 Dr. RoseMarie Jones, Breast Cancer DX 2/16, Bi-lateral mastectomy 8/9/16.
Update morning of 2/29/16: I got the electronic results of the mammogram and ultrasound that was done last Wednesday, it sounds ominous.
"2 irregular hypoechoic right breast masses with right axillary adenopathy. Findings are highly suggestive of malignancy with metastatic adenopathy.
Final Assessment: Highly Suggestive of Malignancy- Appropriate Action Should Be Taken (BIRADS Category 5)"
I had biopsies done this past Friday. I will be receiving the report sometime today.
Update evening of 2/29/16: I didn't get the results today afterall. The lab did not send the report to the radiologist. The radiologist's office said hopefully they will get the report tomorrow (Tuesday).
