Is the Black Bean Pasta Legit... or too good to be true?

Someone here mentioned black bean pasta in a post (may have been Maria?) I was intrigued and bought some. It was significantly better than I had anticipated and half a serving is almost too much and makes me feel full for a long time. (I think next time I will only make 1/3 serving.)

Anyway, the ingredient list on the package states that it is made with just black beans and water. I am skeptical... Does anyone think they are lying? There is a elasticity or chewiness to it and I wonder how they could possibly get that with just beans and water. Any thoughts?

Ok, I was intrigued!  I used to LOVE making pasta and had never heard of black bean pasta.  I ran to google!  I saw these stats on the pre packed stuff and was amazed at the protein in it!!  But back to your question:  If the package said it was just beans and water I would believe them.  If they used an additional flour in the pasta it would have to be listed.

I think it is legit. I couldn't stomach it personally and couldn't get past the color cooked. Food is not supposed to be gray.

I know someone who lived for several months in the former Soviet Union. She told me that all the meat was grey. It didn't matter where she was, or what kind of meat it was supposed to be -- it was all grey.

Yes, I have been eating the black bean pasta. I only eat 1/4 of a serving at a time, and I try not to eat it too often. It is a great substitute for pasta, but I get hungry sooner after eating it then I do when eating dense protein. Anyway, I have no reason to suspect they are lying. I am just glad to have something high protein that satisfies my pasta cravings because pasta used to be my favorite food.

I have not seen that in my stores. Where are you guys finding it, in a supermarket or health food store? Thanks.

Thank you for that info Maria27. Sounds like something I might like to try.

Long term - if I want pasta - I use zoodles- I use veggetti to make "zucchini noodles".. .

Btw- a lot of manufactures lie on what is really I the food they are selling to sell it. Happens too often...

If you like it, and it fits your needs and you still losing weight... And it does not upset your gut - go for it...

I personally would not long term.. "If it is too good to be try...then probably is" .

Listen to your gut...

I just discovered zoodles on Saturday.  To me, they are SO much better than pasta.  I'm a big veggie lover though, so maybe that's why I like them more than actual pasta.
