I'm not one to post NSV's or stuff like that. I can never word something like that right. It comes off sounding like I'm bragging, and I don't feel right doing that.

I received a letter from my Endocrinologist, Dr. Toni Terri, a few days after our last office visit. (Our first visit since a week before my RNY) She cried at the visit. She just walked into the waiting room, looked at me, her smile dropped, and tears just flowed down her face. It was beautiful.

She was very proud of the progress we had made. Then she opened my latest labs and let me know, I was no longer a diabetic. My GFR on my kidneys improved from 19 (stage 4/5 kidney disease) to a 52 (stage 3). Bmi from 54 to 33 so far. I've lost 134 pounds since Oct 2015.

This is just normal progress. This is by no means my victory. This is only a 'victory' in the sense that it might help show others that it is possible to reverse a life wrought with bad choices of food. Dozens of those people here brave enough to post things that teach me both, how to act, and how not to. And I only ever think of myself as, 'before and during'. I'll be an 'after' when I die. Peace.

You, sir, are entirely too modest.  I wouldn't think of posting NSV's as bragging, but as inspiring the rest of us to be the best that we can.  I love to share my joys with you all, and I also share my failures.  You guys have become my WLS family, and I WANT to hear your NSVs.

Congrats on all of the good news. My mother has polycystic kidney disease and is having her right kidney removed on Wednesday.  I pray that your kindey function continues to improve.  My A1C was 4.7 on 2/3.  That makes me so happy, as just in January of 2015 it was 10.7.  Let us celebrate together!

You have to know something my friend. I love reading your victories, others victories also. You have a much better command of the English language than I am.

You are the Mother of Kal-El for cryin' out loud! I HAVE to read about his childhood!

Quick story.

I was offered a job in Boise Id. My wife is a longtime payroll employee and has no desire to leave WA. On Valentines day it came to a head and she ended up breaking her hand punching a dresser in our bedroom. This has never happened in 17 years of marriage. But it made up our minds about Boise anyway. She REALLY didn't want to leave! We worked it out and all is well.

Yesterday, I can hear her loudly displaying her displeasure at our 14 yo son about his clothes not being put away correctly. After a few minutes of this, he knocks on my door, I answer. He says,"could you please bring the dresser out here?" All I hear from the living room is her cracking up.... MY FAMILY.

You just remember his name. 30 years from now he's going to be doing something amazing. This boy is SMART!

your son sounds pretty damn smart too. Finding the most efficient way to please his mother, and giving a good laugh to boot.

Change is very hard. It would be difficult to move away from my home, especially since we have an incredible support system here.  That must be a very difficult decision to deal with.

My husband and I met in our mid 30 online. We lived in different states,  and there were no prospects for us really. While this is his hometown,  he had a very good career and was not planning to move back. In the midst of our long distance dating, he bought a condo and settled in. Just about a year after we met,  he got an opportunity to move back here. Initially,  the move was to be closer to house parents and mother,  but it gave us the opportunity to really date. We were married less than 2 years after he moved back. But I KNOW I would never been able to move to him if he hadn't come back here.   He's been an incredible step-dad to my oldest, and an amazing dad to my youngest, but I would not have been able to move for him. Thank God he's the flexible one.

Gary, brag about your NSV's!!! It's your hard work and determination that allows both the NSV's and SV's to happen. You should be very proud of yourself. You have already accomplished so much since October. You my man, are just as much an inspiration to all of us as we are to you. That's what this community is all about!!! Keep up the AWESOME work you are doing!!!

NSVs are one of the reasons I read this forum.  33 points on GFR is victory!!!  Dropping diabetes as part of your health profile is a HUGE victory.   Celebrate.
