VSG Tomorrow - Am I Really Making the Right Decision
Well...I am less than 24 hours away from VSG. As each hour passes my mind is really working overtime. I wonder whether I am making the right decision or am I taking the easy way out, have I truly tried to diet, and perhaps I should just exercise a little harder. Needless to say, but I am quite worried of the pain, and more importantly, Dumping Syndrome. Honestly, dumping has me more afraid of following through with the procedure than anything else. Nevertheless, I've come too far to quit now.

I thoroughly researched my RNY, and all of the things associated with it. Going in, I had made my decision based on an intimate knowledge of what I would be asking from my already over-taxed body.
It is never the easy way out. It is a medical aid to help us understand how controlled eating, good nutrition, and focusing on motion. Can help have a CHANCE at a better life. There are no guarantee's in this surgery. I've also not heard of person's dumping with VSG.
I'm glad that you're so close to your date for surgery. I hope you're safe throughout. Surgery is not a finish line. It's a starting line.
Good luck in this journey.
I doubt you will experience dumping syndrome because you will still have your pyloric valve. You may suffer gastric distress from eating something that doesn't agree with you, but it won't be dumping syndrome.
We all get nervous, it's completely natural and if you ask most us us what regret we have, not getting the surgery earlier is generally no 1
Good luck for tomorrow

People who have the RNY are more prone to dumping syndrome. I've never dumped with my VSG.

Hi. I had my VSG three weeks from today. My hardest day was the day of surgery. I was in pain from the time I woke up (2:00 pm) till 8:00 pm. They adjusted the pain meds and it was smooth sailing. I never had one gas pain! So far I can say there is not one thing that has been difficult. As a bonus my skin is super clear from drinking much water. I am down 1lbs. today. I am really happy with that loss since I am a revision and in my 50's. Best of luck to you!
