The plague of Girl Scout Cookies!
GS cookies do not have some magical hold over people - they may take us back to a different time that has a pull on us, by it is not the cookies.

If you stop and read the label on the cookies - you will agree with HALA that they are not food, but poison.
I agree with the "Reduction of Harm" Strategy, in getting the power bars, but I am also shocked every time I read the label on self-labeled "Power/Protein Bars." I stay with ones where the total calorie count is no more than 10 times the grams of protein. And even using rule that a high-carb monster slipped by me. When I tasted it I thought WOW this tastes like a cookie so I checked the label again - Yep, 25 gms carb - a whole day.
The best rule: If it is not on your surgeon's instructions, you do not eat it.
I learned a rule in my last conventional diet that has been very good for me post-WLS. If you are really hungry, you will eat broccoli and broiled chicken. If you want cookies, you are not really hungry you just want to eat.

Girl Scout cookies no longer hold any power over me. I don't want them. I have had 200 boxes in and out of my house for the past 2 weeks and have not eaten a single cookie. My kids have left multiple open boxes on the kitchen counter and still none for me.
I have seen way too many people here in the bariatric community over the last 8 years who gained most of their weight back because they never conquered their demons. I hope you conquer yours.

Ooh the cookie call! I've answered it often, just be careful substituting power crunch bars in lieu of eating the cookies. In the past I used to do this too but I started paying more attention to the calorie count. I think each bar is over 200 calories & only 13g of protein. It can be hard finding a good substitute to satisfy a craving, but not undo all your hard work too.

I credit my 11.5 years success to my not giving a crap about these cookies. Yes, I could eat a sleeve but I've vowed not too. Its a choice every day, and it doesn't get easier as time goes on. Hence, the crappy statistics for long term success!
It may suck to hear it, but there's a reason why some of us here are successful this far out

Guess I am lucky, I don't like them. I wasn't surprised to read about regain from so many, I think my attitude of using food as something I HAVE to have to stay alive works for me . Going on 14 years at goal from RNY and previous poster was right, it doesn't get easier.I also was a smoker and sometime I want one , then think 'ick' Early post op, first year or so I was obsessed with what I could eat. It's portion control folks. I never feel deprived because I know if I want something I can have it. Maybe just a bite but this isn't just another diet
