Losing weight too fast?

I had the full gastric bypass, and I am wondering if I am losing too much weight too fast. I am 1 week and 1 day post surgery and as of today (2/17/16) I have lost 25 pounds. I'm taking the protein, vitamins ans water as instructed, but it just seems like that is too much weight to lose in such a short time. Is this normal or should I be talking to my doctor about it? its not that I'm not happy to be losing the weight I just want to make sure the everything is ok.

Male or female?

Pre surgery weight loss?

How much do you have to lose?

No such thing as too quick - as much excess weight needs to go in the first six months as possible.  I lost 120 lbs to goal in under 6 months.  Its keeping it off that's the challenge.  I doubt you'll ever lose 25 lbs in a week again - enjoy it!

Alot of factors to consider. What was your starting weight? Were you on a pre surgery liquid diet? It's mostly water weight now anyway. You are into the honeymoon phase of this. Expect the weight to fall off for some days to come. As you advance into each new stage, sometimes new problems will arise as you bring different foods back into your life. Egg allergies etc....

Let you body heal for now. The inside will take twice as long as outside. Establish new patterns in the meantime. I try to stay in motion all of the time. Organization was my best friend at 10 days out. It's a great time for you right now. Keep us updated, find some of the geniuses that wander around here for some reason. Read what they write. Good luck.

is that from the weight as you were leaving hospital? I "gained 15 lbs " from iv they pushed into me... that was gone in first week and an additional few lbs..

half or more of that is water....inflamation is really there...

If this worries you, wait until you go three or four weeks without losing an ounce. That'll freak you right out.

It evens out over time. Like Kim said, you can't lose fast enough. It may become a marathon next year, but this year it's a sprint. Get it off.

I thought the same thing.  I lost really quickly and thought something must be wrong.  Turns out some people just lose quickly.  Enjoy it and run with it.

I had the same experience.  Lost like 25 lbs in the first few weeks and was picturing myself at goal in a few weeks, lol.

Then I didn't lose an ounce for a few weeks.  Sometimes I think complaining about losing weight to fast is like complaining about having too much money.

Hello I had the gastric bypass Roux-en-Y in October

I think I went from 318 to 292 in just about a week and a half or two weeks I think I have lost 25 pounds before  even leaving the hospital  think I went from 318 to 292 in just about a week and a half or two weeks.  I think that is completely normal

Someone mentioned above just wait until you hit a plateau and you cannot lose any weight at all .  I am four months postop and I now weigh 237 or 236   I went for about more than two weeks without losing any weight extremely frustrating .  Especially when it first I was losing between five and 6 pounds a week .  I think in six months you'll be amazed at how much weight you have lost congratulations
