Is it ok to be scared ?

Absolutely. My surgeon told me that being afraid just meant that I understood that this is Serious Business.
There are a lot of things you can do to help stay safe during recovery, even though it's not all under your control. Be 100% compliant with pre-and post-op instructions. This includes following your post-op diet, taking medication (pain meds, blood thinners, whatever) and vitamins as directed, and moving around to prevent clots and excess gas.
That said, I absolutely understand your fear. I wrote "goodbye letters" to family members and saved them in my email, and put the password in an envelope on the fridge in case of serious issues.
I think many of us face this, so you're not alone. Talk to your doctor or a therapist if you need help or reassurance.

Well said Sparlekittty. This is serious business and we need to take it as such. Any surgery should be taken seriously not just WLS. Almost everyone is afraid of surgery especially when they are young and have not had it before. That said the nervousness, second thoughts and everything surrounding this are so worth it to get a big step closer to long term good health. I am sure the surgery will go well and we will be waiting hear the good word that you are home and recovering.
I thought I was the only one who did these things - I updated my will and insurance papers, had everything witnessed and notarized. The whole shebang. I did not doubt that I was making the right decision for me, it's that I wanted to be prepared in case things went downhill.

If you weren't scared, I'd be worried about you. This is serious ****
But the rate of serious problems is the same as having your gallbladder or appendix removed, and many other things. Pretty low. In the long run, you will have far, far more serious problems from remaining obese. Don't wait until you suffered as long as I did.

I had my surgery two weeks ago today. I was a little scared. I felt that I might be a bit selfish getting the surgery because when I had the lap band I had so many more problems.
Being only 26 this is probably your first surgery so you don't know what to expect. I don't know what your weight is but your age is apt younger than a lot of us. You probably will heal quicker and probably have less medical problems than some. So As you can see you have a lot going for you!!!
keep posting!
