Losing weight but still not satisfied...

Funny, I've lost over 100lbs, and it's still hard to look at myself.  I still judge the way I look, I'm not satisfied.  I am still 45lbs away from goal, but I wonder if I'll be happen even then?  When will I start feeling less critical of myself and how I look?

Here I am at 185lbs, and I find myself picking out all of the flaws.  blah.

We are our own biggest critics and even at my lowest weight, I still picked myself apart.  I wasn't happy for one reason or another.  But, I learned to let it go and just be happy that I was healthier.  What I would give to be that 165 lbs again. lol   In truth, individually, we may never be happy with our images as we may still see that heavier version of ourself.   And, I realized that after I quit comparing my outcome to others, It was then that I realized, I was happy with where I got.    You will get there too, it is all part of the journey.

Nik_H, you read my mind!!! I distinctly remember being 165 lbs and being soooo critical of myself and my weight. What I would give to be 165 again. I look at pics of myself from those days and have to put them away, because I can't believe I ever thought that I was fat. Why couldn't I just appreciate what I had? Now, here I am full of anxiety about my weight, about having my crap band removed, and having to think whether or not I'm brave enough to undergo a revision. No fun. Knowing what I know now, I would hope I would be able to be more realistic and accepting of myself

Nice dress. How you doin'?

There's a major issue we go through that no one tells us about before surgery. We tend to have this belief that once we've lost a ton of weight, all our problems go away. The trouble is, it just doesn't work that way. If there are thing we are unhappy about before surgery, we'll still be unhappy about them after. So you aren't alone. Not by a long shot.

I wish I had a magic answer for you, but I don't. Just keep chipping away at your issues, whether they are weight related or not. None of us are ever finished projects.

You look fabulous Deanna!  I've lost over 230 lbs, and I'm still critical of how I look.

I think we all have some perception in our heads about how we should look.  I understand that for many people, it sometimes can take years to visually adjust to their new bodies, or so I've heard.  I can look in a mirror now without turning away in horror, but still see my flaws.

Over the weekend, I was complaining to my husband that I'm still wearing the same underwear as I did at 449 lbs.  They aren't falling off of me.  He told me that they were stretched beyond capacity before, and now they are saggy on me.  I thought he was nuts.  They don't feel saggy to me, but apparently he sees something that I don't.

Changes in our bodies can be difficult for us to see realistically.
