I'm at my 6 week post op. I've only lost 20 lbs. Am I expected to lose more with a roux & y. I'm kind of getting discouraged. I've developed bronchial spasms everytime I exercise. I til my primary Dr. But hopefully Today with my 6 week check up. I'm following the orders of the Dr. Is there anything else I can do?

I'm in the same boat as you. I've lost 20 pounds since my weight day of surgery and I will be 2 months exactly on the 15th.

I have been discouraged also because I thought it would come off faster.

Did you lose a good amount before? I did and I think that is part of it.

How is your food going? What are your calories, protein, and water intake numbers?

the water is horrible. I think that's why. I'm taking in only egg as that's all I can tolerate. Chicken is not so good with my stomach. I love the soup and I had a hard time today with my vitamins. But I need to get going on more of a exercise plan. Walking on a treadmill for 30 min is all I can do. I'm going to look in to the you tube low cardio workout. I just hope my appointment goes well. Will keep you all updated. Thank you for the support.

You have to get in at least 62 ounces of liquids a day. I've been drinking a lot of hot decaf tea lately because it doesn't bother me the way the plain water does. Not drinking enough can land you back in the doctors office with more issues.

Also make sure you are getting at least 60 grams of protein a day. Soups offer very little protein usually.

Keep us updated

hmm. I been putting ice in my protein shakes and trying for 60 grams of protein. Yes I need a lot of water. Has anyone else developed bronchial spasms. After surgery?

so I thought I was getting the proper protein. And the calories. I'm not getting enough calories and not enough protein. So I'm in need to eat more and drink more water.

Have you been cleared by your doctor to do strenuous exercise. You have internal stitches and you are still healing. Have you been cleared for chicken at 6 weeks?

Drinking your fluids is vital to good health and weightless.

I actually have a hard time with chicken. But moist chicken makes me feel horrible. I love vegetables. I am able to have eggs with my veggies. Very good. The only thing my doctor cleared me for was upping my exercise to everyday for 45 min on the treadmill. I was diagnosed with bronchial spasms so too much will lead me to have a bad spasm. Not good. But the treadmill for me is enough. For now.
