Are you revising from a Band to something else?

With my band, I was on clear liquid for2 days, full liquids for 5 days, mushies for a week and then regular food ...... But the Band is so different from the VSG, RNY and DS in terms of impact to your body.

i had my band done out-patient and was only under anesthesia for about 40 minutes ... Whi*****luded a hernia repair.

I was home by noon the day of my surgery with extra strength Tylenol.

My post-op program was clear liquids for 10 days, all liquids for 10 days, mushies/purees for 10 days, then all foods as tolerated - which I took very slowly.  The plan worked for me, although I would have moved back to a previous level if anything had pissed off my sleeve.  Nothing ever did, I think he took my whole stomach out and put in an iron sleeve, LOL!

I have an iron sleeve as well.  Nothing has ever affected me in a bad way, even if it's something new.  Thank goodness, I've never thrown up, or even gotten queasy.  It's been wonderful.

I was on liquids for 10 days, pureed for 2 weeks, and soft for 4 weeks. Now that I'm on solids, I've found that I can't tolerate ground beef or anything tomato-based. I get nauseated and bloated. Other than that, I can eat pretty much anything. I definitely try to stick to The Plan. I've had a few hiccups along the way - including that damned strawberry Scooter Crunch debacle... Lucky for me, my taste buds have changed, so it wasn't even good. I only ate about 4 bites before throwing it away.

I was on full-liquids/puréed from discharge until my 2 week follow up. Then on to soft foods, however, at that post op my surgeon said to try things as I'm comfortable but stay away from full chicken breast, steaks and the like.

Presurgery: 2 weeks full liquid

Post Surgeries (four surgeries total due to complications (bowel blockages) and in hospital for 24 days): clear liquids for entire hospital stay plus two days once home.

Full liquids 3 weeks

pureed 2 weeks

mushy food 4 weeks

I'm now on a modified full diet: No breads, crackers, rice, pasta (anything with flour, really), very limited fruit (only low GI fruit), raw veggies other than celery, was added two weeks ago and beef was also added back two weeks ago.

I've had no problems since coming home other than an occasional bout of constipation which is cleared up with an extra dose of Miralax. I take a child's dose of Miralax daily but sometime need a second dose if things slow down too much.

Thank you everyone for your replies. As I can see every doctor is different.

I am RNY.  I was on clear liquids for 4 days after surgery, followed by 2 weeks on full liquids, followed by 2 weeks of soft/pureed food, followed with a modified regular diet.  The modified regular diet is...low fat, low sugar or sugar free, low carb foods...absolutely no white carbs.  A daily minimum of 60 grams of protein and 64 oz of water.  For me, the 2 weeks on full liquids was the hardest part.

Not sure if you are RNY or VSG... I was on all regular foods by one month except for raw veggies/salad. My Doc recently changed his diet for VSG and has them on soft longer.

I'm a month out and still eating mushy foods. My doctor recommended I start eating more solid foods like 2 weeks ago but my tummy couldn't handle it much. Every now and then I will try and have something, but just in little amounts, to see how my stomach will react. So far, so good with no majors issues except that I feel super full from after a bite or 2 of the food I am trying. My doctor seemed to advance the food process quickly but you know your body and what it can handle.
