supplements vs supplements - my two cents

in my opinion, there's way too much discussion about quantities and nutrients.  my successful weight loss was a journey of consistency and patience.  i watched close friends play the guessing game about how much this, how much that and truthfully, they're still fighting with supplements and haven't lost their target goals.  if a bariatric company is certified by asmbs guidelines, then my doc told me to ignore all the hype about OTC and Vitamin store brands.  i've been on fusion for over one year.  at first, my taste was all over the board but guess what, one month after surgery, my taste expectations started to change and things became more tolerable.  i'm sad to read so many of my friends and other patients struggling with sups and proteins.  and the comment above about b12 is wrong.  i have a b12 issue, did before my surgery but if i didn't have one, my doc said the b12 in the chewable was perfect.  he told me i only needed extra b12 if i had the need for it.  sublingual (dissolving in the mouth) is no different from a chewable. i'm not a doctor but i did my homework and i trusted my doc and nutritionist.  they both said, don't ever get in the quagmire of choices.  they reviewed the bariatric products (fusion) and wouldn't recommend them if they didn't believe it was good.  i've lost over 160 pounds and my life isn't easy but not having to struggle with choices was the best move i've made.  i don't regret my choice to stay the course and in my opinion, fusion customer support and products have contributed to improving my quality of life.  sorry to go on and on.  i love my life and i'm grateful that my post-operative routine was put in proper perspective for me.  i actually enjoy putting hand to mouth because what's going in has helped me cope with my diet.  i wish you all the best.  i hope this helps one person and that it continues on and on.

I was speaking with a member of the asmbs who told me that they are questioning some companies who are getting ingredients from China.  He told me that the only supplements that guarantee they are not using ingredients from China is Unjury's OPurity line.

i called the company and was told all products are made in the USA.

Many supplements being made in the USA are made out of ingredients that are imported from China.  Only Unjury guarantees that none of their ingredients come from China.  Chinese suppliers are known to substitute ingredients in order to make a bigger profit then falsify lab reports.  It is a real concern that supplements may contain very different ingredients than what is on the label.

I am choosing to only use Unjury products

thank you for the update.  i called the and asked the company about their sourcing of materials.  the company indicated that all products and materials are sourced in the US.  i explained your comment and concern about foreign minerals/ingredients.  they assured me that no products (raw or other) are sourced outside the US and all products are US made.  Thanks for the info.

I am glad that your plan has worked for you, but everyone is different. I agree that Fusion protein powder is a good product nutrition wise, but it makes me gag because the taste is so disgusting. And as for bariatric company vitamins, they are way overpriced. Many people, including me, either can't afford their prices or refuse to pay for something that we can get cheaper elsewhere. I am doing just fine with my supplements purchased for significantly less money. I have not struggled with my choices, and I do not regret them either. I wish you the best too.

you are wrong. Sublingual and chewable are completely different . Sublingual is absorbed thru the mucous membrane under the tongu.

,while chewable is absorbed thru the stomach and intestines.

actually, if you're leaving the absorption entirely under your tongue, more power to you.  most of my friends (myself included) when taking the b12, couldn't or didn't wait for the dissolve.  needless to say, i don't take the b12 pill anyway.  you sound very angry.  not good for your health.
