DEXA Scan
So I went and got a DEXA scan this morning so that I could see my overall body composition now (wish I would have done this before my surgery so I could see the big difference). For the most part I'm happy with my numbers but after talking with the doctor I have decided to change my goal weight from 150 to 140. Now, I'm only about 15 lbs away from meeting that goal. He also wants met to up my protein to 80-100 grams a day (my plan has me on a minimum of 60 grams now). My next phase for myself is to start doing some weight training so I can build up my lean muscle mass. Guess it's time to start searching for a personal trainer.

There is an OH video that for a goal wt of 145, 85 gms of protein a day is recommended. So 80-100 is accuarate.

I wish I could find a place that does the comprehensive DEXA scan for body composition. All they'll do in my neck of the woods is bone density.

I had trouble finding a place to do a Dexascan too... had it done while visiting my son in Chicago. I am so glad I did it... I ended up raising my goal because of it.... and you ended up lowering your goal because of it... shows how little we really know. I found all the info they gave me very interesting. I have a detailed post on my OH blog if you are interested.
I want to get it redone after I have recovered from Plastics/skin removal...

I will definitely take a look at your blog. I'm planning to start weight training so I can build up my muscle tone before I have my plastics done in about a year. I will probably go back and have it done right before I have my surgery so I can see the difference.
