Brittle, Peeling Nails?
Oh, yes. This. I had my first gel/shellac manicure late last year and was so excited about it, until I had it removed. My nails were *destroyed*. It's been two months and they're just finally starting to grow out slightly healthy now. I thought I'd become a gel manicure convert, but for someone with already thin/peeling nails, I found them far too damaging.

I, too, struggle with peeling nails that split and bleed, since my surgery, which was in 2004. I have tried everything. Nothing works for me. I recently had severe hair loss as well and even though my labs showed that I was slightly anemic, as they said, I started taking a prescription Iron and my hair finally stopped falling out. I am seeing my gastroenterologist next week, at the suggestion of my primary physician to see if she has an answers. I am so happy to have lost and kept my weight off, but really upset by the hair loss and nail issue with no answer for a fix.
Good luck.
