There have been a few women here who were approached about a job opportunity at the carnival after taking large doses of biotin. It didn't grow hair on their heads, but it did everywhere else.

Please don't wait for a deficiency to show up, before you take vitamins.   Its hard to recover from them, no matter how minimal they are.   I hate that some Dr's just give their patients a list of vitamins, but don't really point out the necessity of each one or some that give them only a partial list and say you won't need the others unless you become deficient.    It is crazy!

You've got some good guidance from posters on this thread, so listen to them!

It's funny you mention that- I'm 7 weeks this week and I seem to get into a funk about 2-4 everyday. Early out we would be out on the town during this time and I would get really tired and have to buy or bring a shake with me to drink.

I take 3 multi's a day and b-12 about every 2 days.

I'm also on a prescription vit D and also take the calcium 2 times a day.

Please check your prescription Vitamin D. Does it say Vitamin D2, or D3? If it's D2, it is pretty much doing you no good at all. D2 has to be converted in your body to D3, and a very small percentage is converted. Also, most of the prescription D is in little oil-filled football shaped things. We don't absorb vitamins that are suspended in oil very well at all.

If yours is not D3, or is packed in oil, switch to a dry D3. You can find them in stores or online for less than your insurance copay is costing.

Thanks Grim- I just checked and it is d2 football shaped one. I wonder why the surgeon's office didn't catch that. I will get the d3 it at cvs if they have it!!

It astounds me how little doctors and nutritionists know about supplements, especially as they pertain to us. We really need to educate ourselves, and track our own levels. After all, it is our health, not theirs.

Cvs may not have dry D3.  Vitamib0n Shoppe, or on line... I use Biotech dry D3 50,000 IU ( yes, 50,000) but I only take that once a week... One bottle of 100 caps lasts me 1-2 years. Check Amazon.

I'm only taking the chewable multi 2x a day at this time. they don't want me taking the calcium until i am a month to 5 weeks out and on more solid foods. I was to start b12 injections this week, but my b12 was high (2000) so we're going to wait until 3 months and do lab work and go from there.

You are still recovering from surgery, so it is very common to be tired.   I would be concerned if you were tired all day.  You should see that this should level off, but if you are still feeling this way at 6-8 weeks out, look at your intake of foods and liquid to be sure you are getting enough protein and that you are definitely getting enough fluids.
