Belly button help! (With TMI pic)

Ok,  so I'm in an area affected by the winter storm.  I've been bundled up in layers for days now.  I'm not sure if that's what caused this,  but my belly button is irritated,  sore,  and red.  Almost like it's raw,  if that makes sense?  I held it open for the pic,  it's usually somewhat pinched together and closed a bit.

I was just wondering what to put on it?  Will any triple antibiotic ointment (like neosporin) work or do I need something particular?  I noticed it this morning and have been keeping it clean and dry but I'm sure there's something to help the healing process.

I would try it... I don't think it could hurt.

I use alcohol when mine gets irritated. It burns a little, but it kills all germs. After alcohol, you can use diaper rash cream, to keep the affected skin protected, and that always helps me. Clears up in a day or two.

Diaper rash cream - you can use A&D ointment, or actual diaper rash cream like Desitin. It really does work. I should know, lol.

Wa**** with soap and water, dry it good.  At this point *I* would apply Bag Balm...it's my cure all for all irritations.

I have had that before -- especially when I was heavier and the skin would fold and close up over the belly button.  What causes it is sweat, moisture and trapped heat in the hole without air circulation.

I use hydrogen peroxide to clean it out -- let it bubble and very gently dry it.  I actually have used a cool hair dryer before.  Then I put an absorbent material in/around it with zinc oxide (diaper rash cream) -- it clears very quickly.

Be sure to keep it very dry and clean.

This can also sometimes be a yeast infection. Similar to what a lot of heavy women have under their breasts. It may need an anti-fungal ointment. Not sure what is available to you but here in Canada we have a couple good products called Monistat and Caneston. Hope you find some relief! Chris
