Surgery tomorrow and coughing!

So my surgery is schefuled for tomorrow and I'm a by worried. I have been getting over a small cold and I've had a bit of a cough but it seems like today it's gotten a bit worse. 

Has anyone had surgery while they were sick? Will a cough postpone surgery? Will I hurt myself after surgery if I have a cough going on? 

I am extremely excited but also just a bit nervous of anything going wrong and the surgery being postponed because of this.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

as long as you don't have a fever,you should be good to go.

Just make sure when you are out of surgery, you are protecting those incisions by holding a pillow against your sides if you are coughing...

I was getting over a cold when I had surgery and they said that as long as I didn't have a fever I should be ok. I would just double check in the morning!

I would just make sure you are VERY careful about coughing up what is in your chest and doing your breathing treatments!!

Thank you everyone! I'm on day two post surgery. I had no trouble with my cough yesterday the day of surgery. Lots of pain but I'm feeling loads better today. It hurts when I cough but funny enough it hurts more when I hiccup! It's been a crazy two days but I'm still so excited about the beginning of this journey!
