Bread substitute in recipe?
Thanks - there is egg in the recipe and I don't care about the shape. It's just for me so no need for it to look pretty :) It's hard to say what of my store would even have that almond meal - small town store and all that. I think I'm going to try almond meal and parm mixture if I can find the almond meal. If not I'll order it online.
Trader Joe's has almond meal....if you ever go there. I think the flax would work if you already have it. If you are adding egg that will bind it. Link to recipe?

No TJ's around here, small town! I do go there when I'm in the area but it's a few hours away from me. I just ordered some online since I can use it for other things too. I tend to order from Amazon a lot for that reason.
Here's the recipe - my friend says she loves it.

Just ground some almonds! That's all it is.

Yes, I ground my own almonds one time for Almond flour. Put it through a sifter and then threw the big pieces back in and ground them again. Did it in a food processor I think...
In my internet travels today, saw this recipe for crab cakes that uses finely ground coconut for the 'bread'...

Thanks for the recipe... I will check it out.

So almond meal is just almonds with skins on ground in a coffee grinder (or flour mill) to a flour-ish consistency... almond flour = blanched/skinless almonds if you have the gadget at home.
Good luck... you know I figure... if it's yummy stuff you can't go too wrong with cooking... now baking... a little more exact a science. Hope it works out great.
I wonder if you could just drop the amount of b crumbs - 1/4 cup for several fish cakes might work and have very few carbs per serving. Maybe add a tsp of dry mustard.
