Ok, I have a "question of the day", that I hope everyone will join in on, to help pre, and post ops alike! Ok, heres todays question: What food did you really NOT want to give up after WLS, and how did you prepare it to be WLS friendly afterwards? My answer: I love milk shakes, and I really dreaded giving them up, so I now use skim milk, sf ice cream, ice cubes, and protein powder. I whip it up, and it helps me kick that milk shake crave.

My diet coke...or any other carbonated beverage. And there really is nothing to make it wls friendly. I miss it, but I like losing the weight better.

Its so funny you should mention diet coke. LOL Last night I had this crazy dream that I was drinking a diet coke out of a fast food cup! I remember looking at it and going OMG, I am drinking DIET COKE! I gave up caffeine and sodas before surgery, and here I am dreaming about them. But then I quit smoking 2 years ago, and I will still freak out if I dream and I am smoking in that dream. LOL Take care!

There wasn't any one thing early out. Before surgery, I didn't think "gee, I'm not going to be able to have XX again." I did miss certain textures, and of course, the quantity, early out, but these days, aside from sugars and high fats, I can pretty much eat what I want. It's just that what I *want* is different now. Good question! Becky 287/188/Haven't Decided Yet

In ALL REALITY I have Never Given up anything. It is all moderation my dear. But there are somethings that I just choose Not to eat. Beleive it or not it is because they just aren't good to me anymore. Before everyone has a heart attack on me not given up anything I didn't want to... I am almost 3 years post and have never went back up on the scale by even 1 pound. It has always been downhill for this girl!! I am currently waaiting a reply for a loan on reconstruction!! As a diabetic pre-op I had already made a lot of modifications in my diet. But I still love my sweets, just have to find sugar free substitutes. I adore the triple chocolate power crunch protein bars, I absolutely must have one a day. Most other things I want I try, like pizza, pasta, hamburgers, but I always eat protein forward and never over indulge. I don't feel deprived at all, I don't care if I eat just a few bites, I know I am getting healthy and fit. I have found that the Munson's headquarters are near my boyfriend, we go there and I will get an occasional s.f. chocolate, they are pricey 19.99 a pound but I usually get one or two chocolate covered cherries or a piece of almond bark. This is a nice treat. Hugs Heidi

Hello Gosh I miss soda the most. I drank both regular and diet and sweets. I had such a sweet tooth. But learing there are so many baking receipes with splenda will get me through. But now that I have lost 72 lbs since August I can do without my old habits. Thanks for the good question. Have a great weekend. Priscilla
