I am right behind you on the bragging.  Nuf sed folks!  Go seek your single digits and let go of sharing how delighted you are with yourself.  Try providing support to the new post-ops.  The changes that WLS brings to all of us is awesome....your delivery on post, not so much.

Oh s**t, does this make me a HAG!  Whatever!

I feel if you loose 90-120 pounds you should be celebrating the new health you have the medication you can go off of the c pap machine you can stop using or not having to give yourself a needle every day. The small size jeans are a plus but not the real prize the real prize is a longer life. I can understand someone being happy to be able to go to Walmart and buy clothes not from Omar the tent maker where I buy clothes from. My biggest driving force is I don't want to die in six months or a year.Everyone is happy about different things lets celebrate improving health. If someone walks up to you asked why did you have weigh loss surgery tell them I don't want to die my family needs me and God is not ready for me yet.

Great post, we should always remember where we came from. I do enjoy befores and afters, because I think it is wonderful to celebrate the journey.... and it is encouragement to those coming along... No need to flaunt it weekly but a surgiversary or reaching goal is a great time to celebrate the hard work. We never arrive, I always think of it as changing seasons... one season ends another begins.

It is funny, I was never a single digit size but even in plus sizes I can say there is vanity sizing. I remember back in 1992 weighing about 300... I remember around the same time buying a pair of size 28 denim shorts... and barely squeezing into them. I was so happy to buy them. They didn't have stretch in them. Yet in recent years I was almost 400lbs and wearing a size 28. 100lb difference and the same size?

thanks for this.  I know I'm guilty of hating myself "before." This was a very thoughtful post, Kat.  You have such a way with words.

Great post.  Thank you so much.

I struggle daily with food addiction.  I'm in good health and for the most part do a great job with my bariatric eating plan.  My weight is good.  Sometimes my self image is not as good.  Loose skin from the waist down prohibits my fitting into a smaller size pant and I'm not willing to go through the plastic surgery to remove it.  I accept this - but I don't like it.

Thanks again for your post.  Perspective is a good thing.

Blessings,

Penny

Thank you for saying what many of us have felt.  Personally, I can tell you that the constant crowing over getting to a certain size often made me feel inferior.  Why?  Because although I was a much lower weight than the people who were posting, I was still wearing bigger sizes!  And I felt like I was doing something wrong.  For sure I was shopping at the wrong stores - lol!

How could someone who weighed 30 lbs. more than me be wearing a smaller size?  How!?? I learned that people have different body shapes and height impacts size too (I'm a shorty).

Don't get me wrong - I love reading about when someone pulls on a pair of size 6, 8 or 10 jeans for the first time in her life and bursts into tears in the dressing room.  But to constantly be posting aobut the size you wear (when honestly, lots of people might actually wear smaller sizes than you!) drives me a bit batty.  Maybe we need to focus more on the size of our hearts than the size of our jeans and work harder at reaching out to others in a genuine way.

I struggle every day too.  And nobody looking at me or who knows what size I wear would ever guess that.  Thanks, Kat!

I never post pictures of myself, other than change my avatar now and then.   I've had a different journey than most people and I have often written about that, but Ive never felt a need for people to tell me how good I look, or even how I need a better bra

I'm not secretive, I've just never seen my journey as a fight to get in single digits - its been more of a fight to not become a regain statistic and to make this maintenance journey - the longest we'll all ever be on - my success.

Anyone who has become my friend on here have seen pictures of me on FB, doing things with my family, not taking bathroom selfies lol.

l was once a target on the now defunct sex board for a post rather like the one Kat has done - I'm glad that noone has decided to call her a jealous ***** - OH is a much kinder place for the most part.
