Using protein powder?
hi everyone! Happy Tuesday!
so I've seen a few posts and things about adding protein powder to different foods to help get protein in. I'm in the puréed stage and wondered how this works and if anyone has any suggestions, I though maybe adding some to yogurt? I'm struggling to get all of my protein in and am looking to any possible way.
also egg drop soup..? Is this cheating? Lol I want to have it so bad but do I count this as liquid or one of my 3 3 Tbs meals? Sorry so many questioNs just don't want to mess anything up!
Thank you!

I use the premier protein shakes from Costco and have used protein powders but I do not like the grittiness of powder. Just a personal preference. I also do this to get my protein in. You can add it to yogurt. I however am almost 4 years out. You did not mention how far out you are from surgery. Protein shakes are good.
Ive added protein powder to plain nonfat greek yogurt and then put it in the freezer for a yogurt treat.
Ive added plain protein to chicken broth to build up my numbers.
I'm also in the puree stage and I've been doing one shake a day and mix it with milk to get the added protein, then the other small meals.
Sure adding it to yogurt is a great way to get a little extra protein in... some mix better than others... chocolate protein powder, powdered peanut butter... is yummy... I still eat that often... now I tend to add stuff (nuts, protein bar crumbles, fruit) but it's great.
I'd probably count egg drop soup as a meal... it generally thicker than broth... but you know when in doubt ask your bariatric team.
Remember that developing a healthy relationship with food is a goal so don't be afraid... or think you are cheating... not much will mess you up unless you really jump ship or do something really wacky... questions are great... you are learning your new lifestyle.
Best to you!
