This is major surgery and it is important to know what you are getting into and how it will help you.  Sorting though all this being respectful of yourself.  You may still have work to do before making a yes/no/not now decision.  If you think that you can lose it and keep it off, or that being at a healthy weight is not important than that would be somethings to consider.  If you need to deal with some of your other issues - that makes sense and maybe your doctors will want you to do that anyway.

Anyway, I would be thinking about a few more dr visits to get as much cleared up as possible.

I think that people on this site want you to make the right decision for you, and not say 'yes' or 'no' too soon.

That being said, your frustration level seems high - uncertainty, indecision, I can see, but I don't understand the frustration level.  Doing the research and working through these issues with your medical team is part of the process.   Are to trying to rush a decision?  Can you put things in a different perspective and take things one step at a time?   In the end, you are in control of your health - Best wishes to make the best decision for you.

Don't have WLS until you're 100% certain you're making the best choice for you. when I first started considering WLS, I thought my only options were the Band and the RNY, and frankly, both of them scared me. I decided I'd rather stay fat.

But I didn't just STAY fat---I got fatter, and sicker, until it was do something drastic or die. So I bit the bullet and started the process to have the RNY.

BUT---it STILL scared me. Not just the idea of having major surgery, but all the lifestyle changes afterwards. I was really, really dreading life post-op. Then I learned about the Duodenal Switch, and suddenly the idea of WLS wasn't so bad after all. The DS offered me a post-op lifestyle that I felt I would be happy and comfortable with.

That was 12 years ago. I've not had one moment's regret for choosing the DS. I'm living a more normal life than I EVER did pre-op. I'm healthier at 57 than I was at 37. I just wish I could have had my DS when I was 27!

WLS will make huge changes in your life, so be certain you're 100% committed to this decision.

I SPOKE WITH TWO different friends about RNY Surgery. They both told me, don't second guess yourself, just get it done.   They said DO IT!! They both said it was the best thing they Ever did for themselves, they are off medications   and didn't need anything for vitamins really their blood levels stayed fine.  my one friend eats anything she wants just small small portions ,  she stays away from sweets. I feel,  You need to feel completely blessed that you are so close. And I assume your insurance will pay, do you know how lucky we are alot of people don't even get this opportunity.  They do these surgery so much now,  its nothing.   I'm only giving you my thoughts I'm trying to encourage you...  Personally I'm tired of being fat, I want a Good Chance, take care of yourself!

Thank you everyone for your kind words, your support and your experiences. I am going through a rough patch of self doubt I guess. This is quite normal I am hearing. Made an appointment with my family doctor for tuesday to disuss this and all my low vitamins and minerals. Went off all of them for now. Stomach protested quite severely. Couldnt hold down anything or stand up I was in so much pain. 2nd sleep test went smoothly with the help of some imodium and gravol.

I didnt cancel surgery or any appointments at Humber. I am just going to speak with my doctor Tuesday  and my dietician in Feb 16th first. Thanks again everyone. I guess my moments of panic and self doubt/ descisions have passed me. My head is a bit clearer today.

Please remember all those who have gone through this process... you are very needed here on this site for those of us like me that may need some guidance. Thank you!

Getting all of the pre-op work takes a LONG time, and it would be annoying to go through it again if you changed your mind in a year. Perhaps it would be wise to talk to your team and delay by a month or two if you're concerned; at that point, you can pu**** out further if you like.

It could be a lot of things!  Talk to the team u are working with! They may be able to give you more insight on what is best for you!  Ask they how it will affect what issues you have!  Then go back to the question why you started this process, to figure out what is best!
