I am so sorry that you are going through that. I can't imagine how you feel. When I was a few days before surgery I remember the diet becoming even more strict. You did hit the nail on the head though. Considering your parents are overweight themselves they may be envious that you are having this surgery. A BBQ in honor? Im sorry, that is in addition cruel. The day before surgery you will be on clear liquids then you have to drink that disgusting drink i don't even remember what its called, to make sure you're cleaned out. All I can tell you is stay strong, take a deep breath and realize this moment is all about you. You are not isolated because we are all here for you. We all have been in similar situations. I could tell you the hell I went through the three weeks before surgery. Them trying to sabotage you is a reflection on them, not you. I wish you all the best in your recovery and journey.

Does your hair cover your ears?  If so, invest in 2 things. . . . ear plugs and a jar of Vicks vapor rub.  Ear plugs in/Vicks in nostrils . . . Smile and be the most pleasant weight loser on this planet.  Consider this a competition you've ALREADY won!!!  Easier said than done, but you've already made the hardest decision . . . . to have surgery.

Congrats on your decision for WSL, be calm, and stay strong . . . . . .

Ironically that is how I use to see myself.... like a garbage can. I would eat anything.... an endless garbage can. Haha thanks for reminding me! I don't want to become a garbage can again. That is a really good example.

EVERYTIME I have ever tried to diet or lose weight, my mom has sabotaged me and I usually caved. Even this time, I never told her about the surgery, I just said I'm on a sugar-free, fat-free diet, so for Christmas, she gives me a PLATEFUL of pastries as a Christmas gift.  I graciously took them home and threw them away. I have two other sisters who are MO, but I've always been the biggest of the three of us.  I feel like she doesn't want to see me succeed, so I didn't tell her about the surgery.  She's seeing the weight loss and comments on it.  She even commented on my lack of eating ANYTHING she offered even pre-surgery. My mother isn't overweight at all, but all her daughters and two of her three sons are.

You just have to get more determined than your parents at your weight loss journey.  They don't want things to change, apparently, and you don't want things to stay the same. It's your body, your decision, your life.  Stay the course and it will get MUCH easier, but it will take time.  The first two weeks after surgery, I felt like every vein in my body was revolting against me because it wasn't getting what it's always gotten, but after the second week, things eased up.  I'm nearly 5 weeks out now and things are feeling normal again.

I've been robbed! My grandbaby stole my heart!  She just raised her hands and I surrendered.
