Off she goes

I know a girl, her face seems pulled and tense.

Like she's ridin' on a motorbike, in the strongest wind.

So, I approach with tact, suggest that she should relax.

Cause, she's always movin' much too fast.

Says she'll see me on the 'flipside', on this trip she's taken for a ride.

She's been taking, too much on.

Off she goes, with her perfectly, unkempt clothes.

She's yet to call back, but I see her picture.

It doesn't look the same up on the rack, we go way back.

I worry bout her insides, it's like her thoughts are too big for their size.

She's been taken, where? I don't know.

Off she goes with her perfectly, unkempt. hope.

And now, I rub my eyes. For she has returned!

Seems my preconceptions are what, should have been burned.

For she still smiles, and she's still strong.

Nothin' changed but the surrounding bull**** that has grown.

Now she's home, and we're laughin'.

Like we always did, my same old, same old friend.

Until a quarter of ten....I saw the strain creep in.

She seems distracted, and I know, just what, is gonna happen next.

Before my first step....She's off again.                                Eddie Vedder.
