Loose and fabby skin
Can someone give advice on any particular exercise that will help with loose or fabby skin. I am 16 days out and my arms are getting fabby as well as loose skin in the stomach area. What did you do to help with this? I know I can't avoid it altogether, but any ideas on what will help.
Thanks,
Congrats on your successful surgery!
Unfortunately exercise won't help with skin issues - although it will give you nice, toned muscles for your flab to drape over, LOL. Whether your skin shrinks a bit is a function of age, heredity, how long you've been obese, etc. Most people don't have much success without plastic surgery. Personally, shapewear is my best friend.
Thank you for your response! That sucks, but I guess you have to take the good with the bad. I will definitely be investing in shapewear. Lol
Along with exercise, give it time. I have batwings and loose skin on the tummy. My arms at 8 months out don't look the same as they did 3 months out. Age and genetics determine skin elasticity... And I'm seeing some bounce back but know it won't be 100 %.
Exercise will mostly tone the underlying muscles.

Thank you so much!!! I feel a little better that there is a small chance it may tighten up a little.
What everyone says is true about probably needing plastic sur to really get rid of the lose skin. However, I still put a good anti-wrinkle cream (same as I use on my face) on my bat wings - dont know if it helps, but it cant hurt.
Even though I hate my batwings when I exercise in front of a mirror in a sleeveless top (like at a class), I think my arms are great when I wear a longer sleeve shirt. I do wieght training and am at 13% BodyFat. Hang in there, see what you have after you reach your goal weight. If you are younger or have good genetics, you might have better bounce back.

Thank you so much!!! I am starting weight training again this week and going back to the gym now that the pain is gone. I really appreciate your advice. Merry Christmas!!!!
I started immediately after surgery with a skin care system that contained an exfoliate and a cream for cellulite. Even if it were a waste of money I was determined to do all I could. I also went to the gym almost daily and really worked on the arm, thigh, and calf machines. The most you build muscle under your skin the better the overall effect.
I also find water aerobics very helpful. I can do a lot of lifting in the water and have no soreness the next day.
