Stall of a different kind - maybe
http://drmatthewweiner.com/how-much-weight-will-i-lose-after -bariatric-surgery/
Check this video - this doctor talks about many of the factors that influence the rate of weight loss following WLS. I found it essential to staying sane while waiting for the weight to come off. It seems as you may need get additional information to keep all this in perspective. This was not my doctor, but his videos are great.
Please let me know your reaction to the video.
PS How often are you weighing yourself??
Sharon
Thank you, I will watch the video. I watched the one you sent me on goal setting. It was interesting.
I weigh myself daily, as I always have. I know the scale will eventually move but it is diasppointing not seeing it happen when I know I have been compliant. Oh well, what will be, will be.
UPDATE...Sharon, this is the same video you sent me last week.
67 yrs old, 4'10", BMI 31.8 (51.8 at start), HW 256.4 (8/4/15), SW 217.4, CW 152.8 (4/30/18), GW 125.0, RNY 12/4/15 Dr. RoseMarie Jones, Breast Cancer DX 2/16, Bi-lateral mastectomy 8/9/16.
I think you already know what I am going to say, but I will say it anyway. People who weigh everyday get often get disappointed and BUMMED OUT for NO GOOD reason. People who weight only once a week (in the few months after surgery) are HAPPY CAMPERS. When your weight loss begins to subside, it is a different story. Plus down the road you will have more confidence in knowing that if you follow the directions you were given, the weight will come off. Right now, you may not be that confident (or else you would not be worrying about a stall so early).
In the time right after surgery, your body is going through so many changes that it does nothing in a straight line. You are recovering form major surgery, losing the IV fluids, anesthesia takes months to leave your system, and HUGE hormonal changes are happening. You will need to make many adjustments to what you did before and find what works for you now. Is weighing daily working for you NOW? You may need to do it again in a few months, but why are you torturing yourself now?? You are usually so reasonable.
If the scale could tell you something valuable, then I say weigh, and adjust your eating/exercise like you may need to do in maintainence- but during this time period, you can't be anymore compliant than you already are. You are a rock star in that department - don't let erratic weigh-ins mess with your head.
I did not have a scale at first, I only weighed at the dr office, about once every 2 weeks. At 2 months out, I got a home scale.
Sharon
Very nicely put. Thank you! Maybe I can gradually stop weighing, go from every day to ever 3rd day, then every 5th day, then once a week, etc. It will be hard as I have always weighed myself daily. Why? The devil made me do it.

Just for this post-op time when you body is going through the hormonal changed of 3 puberties at once. Later, there may be less variability.
Personally, I loved being out from under the Tyranny of the Scale for a little while, knowing that if I followed directions, I would be HAPPY when I weighed in.
You seem t be doing well - that 100% compliance is important until you get permission for a once a week diversion from your doctor.
Best wishes for your continued success. Do whatever makes it easier to stay 100% compliant.
