I had a really tough recovery also, the main thing that helped was walking. It's a challenge because of how dizzy it is just afterward. But, I was so worried about the pain that I started small and got progressively longer distances. I too, regretted it for a few days afterward, it passed for me as the haze of the meds went away. I'm well into my initial weight loss now (100 pounds in 102 days) and I'm walking 3 miles a day.
I wish I knew the exact minute it will get better for you, I don't. But I can promise it will get better soon. Hang in there, and soon the pain will be only a memory. I'm PROMISING you this. This was the best choice you've ever made for your health. Keep telling yourself that, when you feel down. Good luck.
I'm sorry you're having a rough start. I, too, was in the hospital for 5 days, doped up most of the time. Make sure you get lots of fluids, walk when you can. One thing that helped me was to take my painkiller about 20 mins before showering. Showering made me feel a little more human. Rest up, this will soon be a distant memory. Welcome home :)
