We store estrogen in our fat cells.  When we lose weight, rapidly, we release that estrogen into the blood stream causing some pretty wild mood swings.  It levels off as you get closer to goal.  Completely normal.

I think the term is called hormone dumping. It's just what Rocky said about it being released with the loss of fat. It sucks, but it'll pass. If you find it to be too much see your Dr, or try working with a therapist/support group. So often we focus on the physical part of the process, we forget about the mental part. Both are important, the mental, maybe even more so.

As others have said it is common and will pass. Lots of people are depressed after the anesthesia as well. Discuss this with your Dr who may prescribe something or refer you to a therapist. Hope you soon feel better and can enjoy your weight loss.

I was the same way. Part of it was my reaction to the pain meds, but even when I'd stopped them, I just had a hair trigger. My mom flew out for 3 weeks to help my husband and me out after our surgeries, and I snapped at her all the time, then felt terrible about it because she gave up her own life and spent her own money just to come help us. It settled down after a few months, but I was also seeing a really good therapist.

OMG, the angst I went through after surgery! Hormone dump or whatever! Not to worry, love, just part of the blessed process. All a person can do is ride through it, but trust me, what you are going through is what a person goes through. Hang in with the ride!
