What's Your Biggest Struggle?

I don't have any problem getting my protein in, or keeping my carbs low, or drinking my water.  My biggest struggle is keeping my sodium intake down.  I go out to eat, think I made good healthy choices, only to find out that my meal was loaded with sodium!  Or, grab some cheese at home, only to find out it's high in sodium.

My biggest struggle is getting to 149!! It is my 1 year post surgery date today. Yes, Ive lost lot's of weight, but I have not been able to shake the 164-166 weight range for 2 months. Any advice? I have done a great job and do not want to sound unhappy with my progress, but I truly thought I would hit 149 by Dec 1st 2015!!!

I am doing this!!! Getting to my goal!

Hi klv2355,

Congratulations on your weight loss!  Try switching it up, in other words change what you are eating and what you are doing for exercise.  You would be surprised how that helps. And be sure and if it passes your lips you log it.  AND make sure you note the portion size!  Keep us posted on when you hit the 140's!!!!

According to your signature- you haven't had surgery yet-- I imagine your struggles will change (or develop) post op.

My biggest struggle is .... everything and nothing-- depends on the day. Some days I feel like I've conquered the WLS world, other days I feel like I'm trying {failing} to outrun a giant piece of cake.

Any meal outside of your home will be high in sodium. I'm hearing that my city will now requires that sodium content be posted on menus (we already have calorie content posted). A good move-- but doubt that it will deter many.

I buy low sodium cheese.

No, I haven't had surgery yet.  However, my big day is Friday...3 days away.  I'm sure everyone's struggles change as time goes on.  I'm positive I will have different struggles come Friday and thereafter.

Yes, it's true that nutrition info is suppose to be posted in food establishments but sometimes it takes a Sherlock Holmes to find it.  One of the hardest ones I ran across is at Wendy's. I finally had to ask where it was, and was directed around the corner (intentionally away from the counter) on a wall near the restrooms.  Not that it was any help, I couldn't read it without a big ole magnefying glass...the print was tiny.

Its different here thanks to a city ordinance. The calorie content must be posted where people order from. IE- last night I was getting Popeye's for my kids, and on the huge boards you view the menu from the calorie content is printed bright and bold right under the price for the meal. You can't miss it.

Any restaurant with 5 or more locations must post it, so unless you are a Mom & Pop establishment-- its printed so you can't miss it.

Wishing you the best for Friday!

My biggest struggle is remembering that I will never be a normal thin person.  I have to be aware of what I am eating, how much exercise I get, and how much I weigh.  If I slack up on that, it is a rapid downhill slide to gaining back my weight.

My biggest struggle is evening grazing. I'm great at keeping in check during the day, but sometimes at night I just feel ravenous. I've been trying to do things after work so I get home late and eat dinner later and have less time to sit around bored, with moderate success. But there are some days I eat ~1500 calories when I know I would have been perfectly fine with 1100.

My biggest struggle is keeping the carbs at bay. I wake up thinking "Ok. No starchy carbs today." Then I can't settle on what to have for breakfast, so I just grab some cream of wheat. The next thing I know, I'm looking at my nutrition list at the end of the day and I've had carbs at every meal. I'm so afraid that I'm failing at this...
