Before they will even consider you they will need to be sure that you are able to control your eating. It is a waste of their time to blindly accept everyone who needs this, too many would fail and just have serious complications from getting a surgery they didn't understand was only a tool, not a fix.

If you do get this procedure, you'll have to eat 600 to 800 calories a day max to see any loss. If you're not totally prepared to do that, and exercise daily, as well as take supplements daily. Then you should seriously consider another avenue. I only say this out of experience.

This is a lifelong lifestyle change that must be adhered to or dire things will happen to your health. Choose wisely. Good luck on your journey.

The other replies give you the reasons.  So, you have two options if you want to proceed:

-lose the *&%# 15 pounds

-find another surgeon

Pick one path and go with it - continue investigating WLS, as you are doing the pre-op stuff. I'm almost a year post-op, and the more you know and the healthier you are going into surgery, the better you do after surgery.

Best wishes.

I've had to do 6 months weight loss before insurance would approve me. So 15 pounds is nothing. You will need to eat healthy the rest of your life.

To see if you understand how you will have to eat for the rest of your life. Weight loss prior to surgery also helps shrink your liver so there are fewer issues during surgery.
