What's your emergency plan for the T'Day Weekend? Come on, you may need one!
Under the Scouting banner of "Be Prepared," I am putting an emergency plan together if I start to backside this weekend. Please share your ideas. I will post mine when completed.
Some thoughts. I will be traveling 6 hours from home, so I will take my computer. I have id'ed some of the Lisa Lampanelli (the best) videos where she talks about emotional eating, and a few youtubes videos where they talk about how people treat you differently based on your weight, and those lovely Jonathan and Charlotte music vidoes. (I will prob also take a portable DVD player and my most hysterical Richard Simmons exercise video.) I'm almost a year out so there will be food that I can eat (or I would be taking my own food), I am just worried about eating toooooo much. So that means I should take a measuring cup!
Can you foresee any risky situations? What is your plan to deal with them?
(I already memorized some of the things people posted to say to the Food Police, the Food Pushers, and the Just Plain Ornery.)
Tuesday Update - My plan
First, after reading everybody's replies - I feel more relaxed about the weekend. I want to enjoy the time with everybody because I missed some of the Holidays last year with surgery on 12/22. I was on the couch for Ch Eve, Ch, and NYE. I will go to a Messiah Sing-a-Long on Sunday so I'm scheduling non-food holiday activities.
Hydrate early, Prot first at meals. Eat slowly. Respect the size of my stomach - but have a small tastes of something that I really want. I am wearing snug new clothes in case I need additional mental reinforcement. Leave the table when I need to. X X (i could not put the X on top of the snacker, but you know what I mean)
Thanks to you all for your thoughts. Here's 8 minutes of epic acts. I had to watch it on full screne mode to get the annoying ad to go away. This will brighten any funk I get into.

I plan on bringing my food scale. Its small enough it slides right down into my purse. We have such a large crowd for Thanksgiving that no one is going to be paying attention to me anyway LOL. Besides even if they do, ive been 100% honest about the surgery and im very lucky that all of my family is supportive. What I want more than anything is some turkey and a deviled egg! I guess im "lucky" in the way that bread type stuff makes me sick. Since most of our deserts are cake-cookie type things I know I cant eat them without pain..takes a lot of the temptation out for me.
I plan to eat what I want to eat on Thanksgiving. I will not overeat too much because then I will feel sick, but I will enjoy the day with family and enjoy foods I normally do not eat like potatoes and pie with no guilt. One day of indulgence did not make me obese nor will it do so again.

Protein first; then a bite of potatoes, dressing, veggies, and a liberal serving of gravy. Eat what I wan****ch for my High Level Alarm (runny nose!) and quit while I'm ahead. Share a piece of pumpkin pie with my nephew!
Enjoy the gathering of the clan. People are more important than turkey--even if some of my family qualify under both categories!

We always start the day with a 3-mile Turkey-trot (brisk walk) with our neighbors.
Then, we come home and have our regular breakfast (for me, a boiled egg).
Then, we will drive 2 hours to family ... A bottle of water is all I take for the road.
I bring my famous sweet potato casserole and some mashed potatoes.
I don't eat appetizers. Not my food.
I sit down for tha main meal ... 3-4 ounces of lean, white meat turkey, a spoonful of potatoes, a spoonful of sweet potatoes, a spoonful of dressing (a spoonful means a tablespoonful --2-3 tiny bites of each). A few steamed green beans. Done.
Really, my band does not allow for more than that.
I don't eat pie .... So, we watch some football, we take another walk after dinner.
We play some board games. We grab another bottle of water, drive home 2 hours with no leftovers, just memories of another great Thanksgiving!
I host Thanksgiving and do all the cooking so.. I eat a serving of dark meat turkey and then a bite or two of all the sides. The meal takes a few hours, so it's easy to focus on the chats instead of the food.
My guests all know about my surgery, so they're aware of the way I eat and don't try to get me to eat more. It's a pretty great holiday!
