Another two realities you will have to face is:

1) Processed foods (i.e.stuff that is food particles reconstituted with CHEMICALS) got you morbidly obese. They will get you there again (go to the thread about people *****GAINED all the weight they lost PLUS some AFTER RNY and other WLS surgeries. Look for common themes)

2) To combat the above you are going to have to eat REAL FOOD and that means learning how to cook and being willing to invest some time in the kitchen. You CANT outrun a bad diet ...that quote is hanging all over my gym.  Once you put crap in your body, you are fighting an uphill battle to negate its effects.

My husband and I eat REAL CHEESE, REAL EGGS (yolk and all), REAL NONSTARCHY VEGETABLES and I put REAL cream in my coffee. We dont eat bread, crackers or hotdogs. I reached my "normal" weight. After 10 months on THIS diet, my husband is now off his diabetes medicine AND CHOLESTROL medicine. Like he got off his cholestrol meds by eating real cheese, butter and eggs (all which have real cholestrol in them. That should be a head scratcher, right?

The chemicals that are designed to look like food are doing NOTHING for you. Get off of them.

You have got a lot of great advice here. 27 pounds in a little less than two months is great. It has taken me 4 months and hard work to lose about 35 lbs. As others have said this weight didn't appear instantly and will not disappear instantly. Any loss is better than none and even at 1 lbs a week in two year you would lose what is left that you hope to get rid of. It probably wouldn't be disappearing like that without surgery. Try the new ideas people have given you and think positive. You can and will do this and lots of folks are here to help!

The post-op planner at the top of the page will give you a realistic idea of how many pounds to expect to lose each month.  For most people you loss is excellent.  When you put in your figures it will let you know if you are on track.

White Dove-

You are a really positive person you know that?  You noted the really thick silver lining and all I can see is the cloud (i.e. the processed foods) in the above post.

I am glad you are here to give balance.  Cuz I am getting all crazy about processed foods and it isnt even 9 am yet.

i'm ok with you getting all crazy about processed foods. i had no idea. They are gone..out of my life. I did get a rotissarie chicken last night thinking i would have it for a few days. i ate 3 oz of breast meat and my husband ate the rest of the bird. No, he's not obese, he can just eat alot without really gaining..one of those people...ugh.

i did research on non starchy veggies and picked up some cucumbers (2 for a $1). also my favorite veggie asparagus was on that list but i don't think i'm ready for that.

looks like i'll be back at the store tonight to get another chicken or 2 to hopefully last me the week. i heard lunch meat was good but seems to me that's processed too, right?

It is processed, but it's still a decent protein choice as long as you stay away from sugar cured meats. It just depends on how far you want to take the whole "no processed foods" thing. I eat lunch meat rolled around a cheese stick for lunch a couple of times a week.

Hide those chickens from the hubby!! LOL!

that is exactly what i was going to do..wrap it around a cheese stick. i was thinking turkey and chicken and maybe ham..the good Boarshead stuff.

i was shocked when i went in the kitchen and found the empty container. to be honest, it was a small chicken from the grocery store and not one of the huge ones from Sams. But still i ate 3 oz or breast meat (i weighed it before eating so i can track it) and he ate the rest. dang!!

It must have been pretty tasty chicken!

I love Boar's Head meats. Their seasoned roast beef paired with some nice sharp white cheddar=yum!

It's so great that you are embracing the advice given here. I'm proud of you!

Does everybody wrap their lunch meat around cheese - at 2 months - I just rolled it up.  Until I get in 85 grams of proteins - what the OH person says in this video (for me, using her equation).  I would save the lower protein items until you have all the protein you need.

This OH video from a past OH Conference, about how much protein you really need long term. (It also explains why some longer timers report having more than 60-80 gms of protein).

(There might be a way to link to this from the OH website, but I don't know how)
