So Jealous
LadyGodiva, You saved me from saying all the same stuff.
So Jealous, I am not concerned that you are 'only' losing 10-12 pounds per month - that was all I did, but I NEVER ate the stuff you do until I was 6-7 months out and now only occasionally a few bites of a delicious dessert - I do not do crackers, don't understand wasting calories or pouch-space on crappy food. `You need to get your protein first - and prob not bacon, which is hi fat. The only snack I would have is a hunk of a protein bar or some protein shake made into a pudding. At 2 months out - I was eating alot of WLS lasagna - cottage cheese with a spoon of low-sod spag sauce nuked for 30 secs.
Also, because you are already 78 pounds down, you probably will need to do some weight training to replace the muscle mass you lost by dieting. For any diet -even the most balanced - you will lose 10-20% muscle. Weight training, not aerobics, is the only was to replace it. In my Support Group Meeting, just yesterday, the NUIT said that muscle burns 30 cals per hour, fat only burns 6 cal/hr. So you are burning fewer calories now than before.
Are you going to your doctor's support group meetings - I don't think that your daily plan fits with any doctor's recommendations? Going to a monthly meeting means that you check in and get new info.
Congrats on being 78 down and best wishes for the next 78!!
Sharon
Cut out the goldfish, rice crackers, animal crackers, oatmeal and mashed/baked potatoes. They will slow down your weight loss, and not help you feel full. Even if they are on your food plan as approved foods, you need to be focusing on lean, dense proteins ( egg and bacon are great, as is the cheddar cheese ), and non-starchy veggies ( such as mushrooms, zucchini, cooked cauliflower, green beans, and the like). It's fine to help bump up your protein intake with protein shakes as long as you avoid fruit juices. Make sure you're weighing or measuring out your portions. ( which ever your program calls for. )
Looking for recipes is a great way to change up your menus and get some new ideas. There are two that jump into my head right away: theworldaccordingtoeggface.com and bariatricfoodie.com.
You will be eating this way for the rest of your life, so you should try to take some chances and up your game with recipes. You may experience some failures, but that's totally normal. Good luck!

I think the oatmeal and simple carbs are slowing your loss. Are you able to tolerate any fish or other seafood? Lean protein will keep you satisfied for longer.
Theworldaccordingtoeggface is a great site for ideas. Shelly is a wls post op, and it is her site.

Think about it, if you keep doing what you're doing at this pace you'll be at your goal in less than 12 months. It probably took you most of your life to put on what will be gone in a year. Keep up the good work
I hate when people say the weight fell off. It rwally doesn't. The more you lose before, the slower it will be after, but it is absolutely worth the head start.
The most I lost in a month was 24 pounds, but I was a lot bigger than you. 15 in a month is fantastic. Toward goal, you should be pleased with 5.
Stick with the plan. You're doing great.

It sounds like you went into surgery with really false expectations and that's a shame :( Your surgeon should have given you more realistic expectations.
But, seriously, you've lost 27 pounds in 2 months?! That's amazing. You'll reach your goal in less than a year at that pace. Isn't that awesome?

Yes, don't be hard on yourself. When you lose a lot pre-op you don't always pull those big numbers you see others have right after the surgery. Does it matter? What matters is the weight is gone.
My only thought about what you are eating is 60g of protein is the minimum. At 2 months out you should get that every single day, no excuses. There shouldn't be any crackers or goldfish in your diet if you aren't meeting your protein goals. Like I said 60g is the minimum, most people aim higher. You have very little real estate in your stomach right now, use it to your advantage. I am not in the no carbs ever camp, but this early out would not be doing oatmeal or crackers daily. Maybe once a week but not everyday. Need to maximize your early time after surgery when you will have your best results.
Take a breath, keep moving forward and you will be OK...

First, losing three or more pounds a week is weight just falling off.
Second, ditch the hot dogs, crackers, oatmeal, and potatoes. It's not about the total carbs (but that's important too) as much as it is about eating highly processed food that your body can more efficiently digest and extract every last calorie and carb from. Some better choices include rotisserie chicken from the grocery store, sliced ham and turkey, mozzarella cheese, greek yogurt, chick peas, almonds, hard boiled eggs, jerky, and nonstarchy veggies. Even chicken sausages or turkey burgers would be better then hot dogs. There are so many choices that don't take much effort.
