Indiana HIP, What carrier does not require a 6 month waiting period?
I am beginning the process of getting a gastric sleeve. I have the Healthy Indiana Plan with Anthem as a carier. What I would like to know is do you have to wait for 6 months with MdWise or MHS like you do Anthem? Does anyone have input on this? I am getting ready to re-certify for HIP and can change plans if needed. I really do not want to wait the 6 months if I do not have to.
The 6-month wait is a pretty useful thing. It'll help you get into the right mindset for surgery and post-op life, plus it'll give you time to learn everything you need to learn. Try to look at it as a useful and beneficial part of the process instead of just something that's keeping you from getting surgery as soon as you want it :)

I would have hated waiting 6 months. For me the process took about 3 months. Can you call the different plans and ask? Even within carriers... depending on your individual plan the requirements can be different... so even if someone came on here and gave you advice it still might not be true for the plan you want.

Ask the ins person at your surgeon's office - they might know since they work with the companies.
