I found this app in the playstore. It is free. It keeps up with fats, carbs protein and calories.  I have been using it for 2 weeks and really love it !

I haven't used that particular app.  I use My Fitness Pal, as do many people on OH.

Sure it does - I've been using it for over 2 years and have daily protein data for every single day of that time.  And I use the free MFP app, not the paid app.

where do you see a total for protein?

Go to your settings for food diary and make sure you've marked protein as one of the macros you want to track. You can totally customize what MFP tracks.

Of course MFP keeps track of protein.
