Protein bars?
Like the protein powder it is trial-and-error what you will like and what will agree with you. Watch for sugra alcohols as they may give you gas and discomfort.
Even though they don't actually have a lot of sugar, but the ones that taste really sweet like Detour bars and Pure Protein make me nauseous.
Quest I just don't like the consistency. They are very high fiber... so the 'net' carbs are low. Many people go by that.
I like Kind bars (not really high protein some are higher than others, but I only have occasionally) Power Crunch and sometimes even buy the Aldi ones.

I keep 1 or 2 protein shakes or bars in my car trunk so I always have something if I can't get home or have time for a 'real meal'. I use the bars more for snacks, and eat them a chunk at a time. I'll use either if I need to get more protein in. I am so happy to have discovered GNC stores - there are a bunch of them and they have good protein drinks and bars (like when my one week trip stretched into 2 weeks.) I don't want to make really bad choice simply because I didn't have any good ones.

Most protein bars are IMO glorified candy bars. They probably bit better than real candy bars, but not by much.
And since we call them "protein bars" - some people can feel they can eat them all the time ...then wonder why they stop losing weight or start gaining... (it happened to me, until I realized the quest bars made me gain weight.)
Now I use some some times - not often and for sure not every day... But when I really really want a candy bar - I may buy a protein bar.
Protein bars that I have and eat when in a pinch - are "Epic" bars. But since they are made from meat - they are really more like soft jerky... and they don't taste that great so I really keep them and eat as "food" in case of emergency. (I.e - when I travel). These bars are the only one that do not give me craving...

I eat Quest bars all the time. Having said that, don't believe the "net carbs" thing for a minute. It's a marketing gimmick. The "fiber" they use is manufactured, and doesn't act at all the way natural fiber does. Notice that the actual, legal, Nutritional Facts label counts ALL the carbs, even the "fiber." It's only on the front of the label, with the pretty picture and other advertising, they announce the low "net carbs." It's a trap.
I don't count carbs, only calories, so I don't care. But for those that do count carbs, count them all. The net carbs thing is just an excuse to eat more yummy stuff.
And 9 grams of sugar alcohol? Holy crap! That would have most of us curled up on the bathroom floor, hoping for a quick and merciful death.

I've done that a couple of times when I was out running errands. I don't usually like doing that, so now I leave the house better prepared. I take my lunch bag everywhere I go now. Speaking of protein bars, I used to love Quest bars but since they changed their fiber formula, I switched over to ONE bars. They are so much better tasting than Quest and also only 3 grams of carbs and 22 grams protein. Easier to digest too. I LOVE the peanut butter and the chocolate brownie. But, I now only have a protein bar once or twice a week and I still can't finish a whole bar.
