Bad Taste in My Mouth

Hi, I am now just over 4 months post-op from VSG.  As of yesterday and today I have started having a bad taste in my mouth.  I am aware of times when ketoses could play a role in this taste I am having, but I haven't been focussing on just protein in my diet so I don't believe that is where this is coming from.  Has anyone else had a similar incident?  Any ideas of what may be causing this?  Any insight on this would be appreciated.  Thanks

Ketosis doesn't come from too much protein; it occurs due to the absence of carbs.  So if you have strictly reduced carbs (which I'm sure you have), ketosis and the bad breath that comes with it is the natural outcome.  

Tracy D is right, it comes from increased in proteins and little carbs.  Be sure and drink plenty of water as this strains your kidneys

When I have a galvanized taste in my mouth my electrolytes can be off or I may be deficient in a mineral, usually iron. If it is that metallic taste and persists you might get checked early.

The great Mahatma Gandhi experienced this as well, so you're in good company.

He walked everywhere, which lead to extreme callouses on his feet.  And when he went on his hunger strike he got very thin and frail, and the starvation put him into long and severe ketosis, which of course also caused bad breath.  That is why he became known as the SuperCallousedFragileMysticPlaguedWithHalitosis.

Well I'm glad to have read this today, my boyfriend has had bad breath every since I have known him (5 1/2 yrs.) It bothers me. Makes kissing almost impossible. :(  .. he stays away from Carbs a lot. I have started to feed him muffins that I make with cans of pumpkin and cake mixes.All of a sudden his breath smells better.  :) . I did not know this was the cause for his bad breath.
