Doctor has recommended surgery to help PCOS

I suggest you research a procedure called the Duodenal Switch. It has a Sleeved stomach plus an intestinal bypass similar to, but more effective than, that of the RNY/gastric bypass. It makes a dramatic, permanent change in how your body metabolizes food. The DS has the highest success rate for resoling or preventing Type II diabetes, so odds are good that it's also more effective in treating PCOS. It also has the very best long-term, maintained weight-loss stats.

VSG on 01/27/14

Hi!

I am 30 now, had PCOS since I was about 13, officially diagnosed at 17. Big cysts, little cysts, acne, weight gain,  acanthosis nigricans, hirsutism, high triglycerides, pelvic pain, insulin resistance.

I had the VSG and lost about 100 lbs. Many symptoms have resolved, still shave even after multiple laser removal sessions, still get some cysts, some pelvic pain, most dark skin patches have resolved, still have acne. Labs have improved, vitals signs have improved.

Either way, so happy I had the sleeve.

I have PCOS and my VSG definitely helped alleviate the symptoms. Facial hair is still a problem but cramping, weight gain and period irregularity have all but gone. Hope it helps you! Good luck.

My PCOS symptoms have not changed at all since my WLS. I have been able to lose weight, but the pain, cysts, irregular cycles, etc are still ongoing issues for me.
