I remember when I joined this site, it took me 6 months to post. When I did a member ripped me a new one and I didn't post for weeks. That being said, I jumped back in and to this day we are great friends and she was "right"!!! If you are posting dare to share and know the replies come from the heart even it they are done with some tough love

I didn't post for the longest time, and can count on one hand how many threads I have started ... I still don't post unless I have something of value to add to a topic - I suppose it's just not my personality to put myself "out there" unless it's for a good reason.
I can be a bit matter of fact, but that is probably more to do with my English culture - warm and fuzzy is generally reserved for family and people I "know" (even on here) - that's why I'm always nice to you, Kathy We should always bear in mind that not everyone on here is American or have English as their first language!

As fat people, we spent much of our energy trying to become invisible so we wouldn't have to face the comments, sneers, laughs and other unkindness we got. Being sheepish about posting here is a carry over from that manner of thinking and perceiving one's self. We grew to know and thus fear rejection in any form and therefore take sometimes drastic measures to avoid situations we feel or think might elicit rejection.
