Getting tired of waiting.....

I am so close to surgery but yet so far. It seems like it is taking forever to get my paperwork back in. I already had my last appointment with my dietitian and waiting for the pysch eval to come back so I can see the surgeon for the last time. Then I guess I will wait some more for the insurance approval? Then wait some more for a surgery date? Not sure what comes first or last, but almost it's almost a month out from my last nutrition evaluation and I'm still waiting. Sometimes I feel like just giving up on this. I was hoping to have my surgery over Thanksgiving when the kids are out of school as I have do transportation back and froth to school. I'm afraid I will be looking around Christmas time now, sigh. This is so frustrating. Guess I am a stress eater cause I feel like eating a whole pizza right about now. How long did some of you wait at this point? They said the psych evaluation can take 2 months, yikers that is soooo long.

Hi mictariam7,

This can be so frustrating and you think the day will never come. I know myself well and if you give me too much time to think about something I will change my mind. When I met with my surgeon I asked what is the quickest we can do the surgery. When he said 6-12 months. I was in tears... I told him I will chicken out if you can't do it earlier. He said then my program is not for you.

I am so glad it did take 6 months as I used that time to prepare and there is no question in my mind that it was key to my success.

Hang in there, your surgery date will be here before you know it

Regards,

Kathy

Thanks Kathy. I am trying hard to be patient. I feel the same way, if I have too long to think I might change my mind, but the again since I haven't done that yet I probably won't. There are too many cons to doing the surgery as opposed to not and I know in the end it will be more than worth it. :)

One of the things you can work on that I did and got me through the really hard times is a WLS bucket list!

I made a list of everything I ever wanted to do but my size prevented me from doing it. I am happy to say I have most of the items checked off and working on a second one

I am a conspiracy theorist... my theory on this is that they want you to wait to give you ample time to think about the pros and cons of WLS and living with morbid obesity. The other part of the problem is that there is a legitimate wait time because there are hundreds of people fighting for a spot. Like standing in line to see your favourite band, it sucks... but there is a reward at the end of the line.

Good luck. Hang in there. : )

Thanks tatirod. I am definitely ready. Can't wait to have it done actually. You may have a good point there. It does you give a lot of time to think and worth that reward for sure.

Thanks and take care.
