Psych Eval
So i getting closer and closer to my sugery date on 12/21. Of course I have to jump through hurdles for my insurance to get approved. One being the psych eval. Ive never had this done and would like to know what exactly is discussed. I have nothing to hide, but I also wanna go in there confident and not a nervous wreck. Anybody have any pointers?

One of the most important yet under utilized part of the process is learning your relationship with food. I learned throught the process that I was a stress eater and I associated eating with comfort and even celebrations. Once I was aware of those things, it allowed me to be successful in using the VGS to reach my goal. Go in with an open mind and see if you can learn somehting about yourself. Good Luck.

I had my pre-surgical psych eval back in September. It consisted of a 1 hour interview with the psychologist and about 2 hour answering a lot of questions on a computer. I ended up "flunking" mine as I got diagnosed with an eating disorder (BED--Binge Eating Disorder) which will have to be resolved (i.e. "cured") before I can have surgery (my surgery can't happen anyway until summer 2016 when I'll have family support available so I have time to get this "fixed"). I can't say I disagreed with the BED diagnosis since it explained why (for the most part) I gained weight and had a difficult time sticking to a healthy diet for an extended period of time (> 1 month).
The best thing you can do for yourself is go in relaxed, and do the evaluation in a completely open and honest manner.
Or, for fun, you can go the other way. Put some peanut butter down the inside back of your pants. During the evaluation, stick your finger in it, lick your finger, and make yummy sounds.
