Surgery Delay
All of my pre-surgery requirements have been completed, most of them for months. The final requirement (my supervised weight loss classes) was completed 2 weeks ago on 10/7. I was originally told (on 8/27) by my surgeon that my surgery would be the end of Oct-first of Nov.
So I've been patiently waiting for the call with my surgery date...waiting and waiting...and waiting. But no call ever came. Today I called my Center in hopes of getting my date. I couldn't speak to the scheduling gal so I left a voicemail.
The scheduling gal called me back at the end of the day. She said that she was about to leave and would not return until Monday, but she wanted to return my call before she left work. She said she would call me the first of next week to get my surgery scheduled. She went on to say that surgery won't be until the end of Nov-first of Dec. I am so disappointed. Whaaaa!

Wow I am so sorry! I know how the wait is. We do all the things we can to get this as fast as we can. I was really pushing to get everything done so that I could have mine when I wanted it. I was scared I would have to wait a month longer too. Hopefully she can find a time to get you scheduled in before that time...Fingers crossed for you. If they don't schedule earlier ask if you can be on a call for cancelations just in case so you can at least get moved up faster. I know I had a friend that got a call and got his moved up that way last year!!
Sorry you are having to wait. I'm hoping they don't put me off. I'm scheduled for Monday at this point, but got a call yesterday from the hospital to go through all the paperwork over the phone and she says, "Oh, you still need a chest xray. Come down here today and we will take care of this." I was just shocked. I told her that I had just met with my surgeon for pre-op on Tuesday and no one said anything about a chest xray. I have client appointments stacked to the ceiling for Thurs and Fri and I cannot just take off, drive two hours, wait and then drive two hours back today or tomorrow. She seemed surprised that I have a work schedule and I take my work obligations seriously. She then suggested that it might be done the morning of the surgery. I told her that would be fine, we could just leave earlier (we are already leaving at 3:30 a.m. to be there for a 6 a.m. intake) This also seemed to shock her. An hour later I get a call from the surgeon's assistant who wants me to go to my local hospital yesterday and get the xray. I explained that I cannot just leave work without notice and go wait for an xray. I referred her back to the hospital worker who said it could get it the morning of the surgery. I'm going to call back today and make sure they got it sorted, but good gracious! In any case, of course, this morning, I'm worried they will call me uncooperative and cancel my surgery. It's not my fault someone forgot to tell me about the xray a month ago.
Good luck getting this resolved. Apparently they do not understand that a lot of people work and cannot just drop everything at a moments notice. Geesh!

Doingrightin is correct about possible cancellations. After all the planning, who would just not show up???? But, the person scheduled at 7am, right ahead of me at 9am, cancelled. I was ready to go and they moved me up into his slot.
It was good that you called, but by the time she calls you back on Monday, an earlier slot may have opened up.
Good Luck - Keep your fingers crossed.
