Me and the old man

I walk alone in the rainforest surrounding my home in Belfair WA. My walking stick always by my side. I'm down 70 pounds in 9 weeks since my RNY. My family is great, but they're gone during the day...so I walk 3 miles through a rainy forest singing and carrying on like a loon. I think of my dear mom as I walk, I miss her so much. I am 49, 309 pounds and haven't been this happy in a long time. This lifestyle takes a strong mind, and solid organizational skills to succeed. I carved an old mans face into the top of my walking stick, and now we walk together...funny huh?

When you are successful with your surgery the little things that others take for granted mean so much more to those of us that couldn't enjoy these things before. You and the old man make a good team!

I love the images of you walking in the rainforest, with your walking stick, with your old man as your friend, and your reminder of the presence of loved ones. Nature is full of healing, is it not? I have a necklace with a carved moon face amulet. It has become symbolic to me..a connection to nature, and a feeling that someone is watching over me with all the gentle nourishment of nature. I love wearing it. Thank you so much for this post, and congratulations on your success and walk toward better health. Xo
