I had my surgery August 17 , I have been following doctors orders and following everything , Protien, vitamins , diet..

I have noticed I can eat meats , no matter how I chew , I was wondering does this ever get better ?

My average size of meals are around boiled egg size , does this stay the same ?

thanks for support here!

Early on I bought fat free gravy for the appropriate meat I was eating and tried to make sure the meat was wet. It helped a lot. Additionaly, I ate a lot of fish since the texture was easier to deal with. I ate a lot of salmon packets, and I would poach an egg and put that on top of it for lubrication. Canned sardines, oysters, crab, and shrimp are all moist too.

Your portion size will increase in time. I'm 13 monts out and can eat 10-16 oz at a time depending upon what it is.

I'm two weeks ahead of you, and have no problems eating meat, as long as it is moist and I cut it into very small pieces. My average meal size is 2 ½ ounces, so a little bigger than an egg. I'm hoping it stays that way for a long time, because the smaller the meals, the more weight I will lose. As long as I'm getting my 57-85 grams of protein, I'm happy.

Your size meals will determine on how you handle your TOOL. .. and the exact procedure you had.You can abuse it by adding many liquids and stretching it @meal time... always separate your food , from your fluids...Moistening meats , chewing them until there is nothing left.(20 chews for every 1/2 teaspoon)..and picking out any hidden fats., are the tips that worked for me..I see someone mentioned gravy, just use enough to moisten. ..You might try baby food meats, if you continue to have intolerance, Just get one or two to try. It might get your system used to accepting meats.

I'm not sure what your question is about eating meats so I can't help you there.

Depending on what type of surgery you had, it's likely that you'll be able to eat larger sized portions over time. Do your best to maximize your weight loss during these early months as it becomes more difficult to lose weight the further out you are.

I not trying to hurry, I had bypass . I have tried to eat , sample different things and meat is the only thing I have trouble with .. I was trying to see if anyone ever had this issue.

Thank you !

I found most meats difficult for several months. Chicken was tough for a long time. I was able to eat ground turkey or beef much easier than unaltered meat.

Don't ru**** Tuna, shrimp, scallops, refried beans w/salsa, protein shakes--those were my protein sources for a long time. YMMV.

Smaller meals dont necessarily mean more weight loss ... just constipation lol . Give me a bg bowl of lowfat semi fresh high fiber veggies every time. i do eat meat occasionally ( I purchased a large chili from Wendys last nite and mixed it with fresh onion, veggie stock, a bit of curry , fresh baby kale and homegrown perpetual broccoli sprouts and leftover homegrown organic baked potatoes mixed with julienne potato mix from Walmart ( no oil or butter -just butter buds ) . Yum!

Im five years post op 80 lbs down no issues with weight or health thank God .

Hi! I am enjoying meat, although, chewing is critical and small amounts inevitable. Beef still sticks...fish is the easiest. I had my surgery eleven years ago and have maintained a 102 lb. loss. There are few foods that I have trouble with...but some I find tougher to swallow ithout a few issues (bloating; sticking; gassing me up! lol) I make good choices and Love! being "more" normal in size for life!
