Ive actually increased my walking. I do feel like my clothes are fitting loser but I dont understand the gain. I guess I just have really high expectations for myself. Im joining the gym with my next paycheck, so hopefully that will get things going again. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer me and give me a little push.

THe gain is probably not real.. If your sticking to plan which it sounds like you are it's probably water retention or PMS. My weight always increases a few pounds before I get my period. Please do not let these little setbacks bring you down. Ride this out, ignore the number on the scale this week. Your clothes are looser you said! Yay! NSV! Take care of yourself, continue on plan and it will show results. Keep the faith and believe in yourself. You are working hard and it WILL pay off.

It is not a gain , it is a fluctuation. Especially if you are not weighing in tbe morning there could be many reasons including you drank more that day. you would have to have eaten 10,800 calories extra to actually have gained 3 pounds of fat. I weigh everyday but you can't get crazy over the fluctuations.

You're totally right, today I weighed at my doctors office and not only was it gone, but id lost about another 1/2lb. So YAY! Thank you guys for listening to my whining and ranting. As you all know, after that surgery things can be scary and frustrating...especially a gain! Hugs

As soon as your doc clears you, you may have to up the intensity of your exercise.

Say "Hello!" to tae bo, insanity, and piloxing.

They are crazy fun but crazy hard.

That should get the scale and inches moving in the right directions.

PS-I couldnt do these classes until 4-6 months out. At your post-op age range (i.e. 6 weeks) I was trying NOT to pass out in yoga..so you are doing great. Just walk a bit more if you can or find some more hilly terrain to walk on to increase the intesity of your walking.

Insanity at 6 weeks...might be ...insane...

I so understand your frustration. My scale often makes me sad. But I was shopping over the weekend for work pants and was really surprised when I tried on a size 16 that they almost fell off of me. I don't see it on the scale, but I see it in my clothes. It is happening. I have not fit into a 14 in as long as I can remember. Have faith.

Water weighs about 7.8 lbs. You could have put on 3 lbs just by it being a normal "ladies event".

Stay off the scale before it drives you nuts.

If you weigh everyday - do not weigh more than once per week - daily is too much for you. The inherent variability in the scale and our bodies drives some of us crazy (like me). Concentrate on what you are doing - which seems fine - and the scale will take care of itself.

You are doing great, keep to your plan. My loss was excruciatingly slow after surgery, I was so frustrated that at one point, I gave my scale to my mom to keep for a while. I could only weigh in at the clinic or when I visited her (1.5 hr away). It took a lot of anxiety away. 48 pounds in 6 weeks is absolutely amazing, better than I ever did.

keep it up, put the scale away and concentrate on the positive changes, when you get on the scale again in a few weeks, you will see how well you have done!

regards,

K

This site has an awesome tool the Postop Planner. When you put your numbers in you will get a very realistic view of what to expect.

When you buy a scale try to get one that measures body fat as well as weight. Also make that scale your friend. We all got fat by ignoring the scale. I never go a day without stepping on my scale. Sometimes I am not happy with the number but I know when I am gaining and can stop it immediately.

A fitness tracker is another tool that will help more than you think. You should be using My Fitness Pal to track your food. Many trackers will take the MFP info and track it with your steps.

As part of my new life, I always know exactly what I weigh, and how many calories, fat, protein, water, carbs and fiber I am consuming.

I'm going to look into the Post-op planner. But if the number on the scale is crazy-making only a few weeks after surgery, the person may not be ready for it yet. It took a while for me to trust that the weight would come off it I did the right things and getting on the scale was something to look forward to. At 10 months post-op, I am now down 106 post-WLS and 130 from HW, and am just starting to be able to handle to variability of the scale without being disturbed. I had my first week of staying the same. I am ready to start tracking what I am doing.

Thanks

PS I saw the Post-op planner under tools.
