PCPs and WLS patients
I was wondering the same thing. Maybe it's a new type, where they go through the other end?
6'3" tall, male.
Highest weight was 475. RNY on 08/21/12. Current weight: 198.
M1 -24; M2 -21; M3 -19; M4 -21; M5 -13; M6 -21; M7 -10; M8 -16; M9 -10; M10 -8; M11 -6; M12 -5.
The prep prescribed was RIDICULOUS. All he could say was to start earlier - which did not really work. Other people here said they used SF Gatorage and miralax which would have been much better. Gas pains for 3 days afterwards - never had that happen before, although others have.

Well, you went to a doctor who knew what s/he was doing. The prep I got required me to drink 16 oz of epicac-like stuff, followed by 32 ounces of anything within 2 hours, followed by another 16 ounces of epicac-likeepicac-like, followed by, within 2 hours another 40 ounces of water. Minimum.
The colonoscopy was OK, but this doctor's standard prep does not work well.
By the way, I am precious and I deserve appropriate medical care, not some hack job by a doctor too lazy to provide a prep appropriate for a post-WLS patient.
PS - Thanks for the name of the MOVI prep, I will let my new doctor know about it for next time.

Have you tried looking for an Internal Med. physician @ Emory? It's a University hospital. They should have someone who is familiar with WLS patients.
I've had to move a lot in the past ten years; when PCP shopping, I always ask about their experience or knowledge of WLS, and if they are not familiar with any of the surgeries, or aware of the intricacies of care, I thank them and keep shopping. It can take some time, but I've had very good luck.
I suggest you try the same approach. I know it's a PITA, but much less stress in a medical relationship.
Good luck!
My PCP works affiliated with a weight loss clinic, so she is familiar with all of the weight loss surgeries. She is excellent. If you're in the Chicago suburbs I can pass along her name. She recommended the bariatric surgeon I used who was also fantastic.
I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!
